Kate Garraway was left horrified during her latest appearance on Good Morning Britain as they discussed a horror twist on a Disney classic. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Thursday morning (September 1) alongside co-host Ben Shephard.
As usual, they were joined in the London-based studio by Richard Arnold who was on hand to deliver the latest entertainment news. And among the news he brought to the show was that of a Winnie-The-Pooh horror film. The sweet, honey-loving bear has been turned into a killer in Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey.
The film is set to be released later this year and people have been left divided after the trailer for the new movie was released on Wednesday (August 31). It follows the much-loved residents of the Hundred Acre Wood - including Eeyore and Piglet - years after Christopher Robin abandoned them.
Unable to show the trailer on the early morning programme, Richard joked that if the news people are usually subjected to "isn’t bad enough," Pooh and Piglet are now mass murderers. "What!?" Kate, 55, recoiled in shock. She then asked: "Do we need Winnie-The-Pooh being evil?"
Ben, 46, appeared a little more intrigued about the new film and pondered what the revamped characters look like. "If you can imagine Piglet with tusks, and Eeyore… not himself," Richard told him before admitting it was a "very, very grim watch."
Kate still didn't appear impressed by the idea and said as she moved into the next segment: "Well, talking of creepy and terrifying…" before sharing how they'd be talking about spiders. The hosts later welcomed a spider enthusiast and an Arachnophobe into the studio as they discussed the number of eight-legged species making their way into peoples homes.
TV personality Ryan-Mark Parsons, who may be remembered from The Apprentice, appeared on the show to share his utter dislike for spiders while enthusiast Ed Francis shared the importance of spiders and why we shouldn't kill them if we find them in our homes. But as Kate and Ben were faced with one creepy crawly on their desk, GMB viewers were heading for the remote.
@mrsjbutler tweeted: "Ok thanks @GMB my arachnophobia has gone through the roof switch off today #GMB." @DannyDenay said: "With spiders all over #GMB I'm close to watching #bbcbreakfast."
And the debate clearly got people talking at home as Ryan-Mark tweeted: "To all of the spider fanatics in my DMs: don’t be so sensitive. Spiders deserve to be outside, not inside my house. @GMB #GMB," while Ed shared: "Was a great pleasure to be on @GMB with @benshephard @kategarraway and @ryanmarkparsons talking about spiders. Be kind to all animals, we need them, more than they need us. #spiderseason."
