ITV Good Morning Britain: Martin Lewis to take 'long break' as he's replaced by Richard Madeley

Martin Lewis has announced he will take some time off hosting ITV's Good Morning Britain as he focusses on another ITV show, The Martin Lewis Money Show Live. It will disappoint many viewers who have appreciated his advice on navigating the cost of living crisis recently.

In September, GMB launched Martin's Money Mondays which saw the Money Saving Expert founder give financial advice, as well as quiz politicians on the economic crisis. Although fans will be disappointed to see him go from the breakfast show, they will soon be able to enjoy the return of The Martin Lewis Money Show when it airs 8pm on Tuesday 18 October on ITV, according to The Sun.

On the 50-year-old's last appearance on GMB, he quizzed Work and Pensions Minister Victoria Prentis about helping people with mental health issues stay in work. He also answered questions from viewers about rising mortgages and rents, and at one point this week had his head in his hands as he explained the difficult situation faced by tenants.

When Susanna read out a question from a viewer who was concerned about whether rents would go up as a knock on effect from rising mortgages, Martin said: " Probably. You would assume that many people who own properties have mortgages on them so their costs are going up and they will want to pass them onto consumers.

"You can also assume that less people may be buying which will put more people into the rental market."

Martin revealed his plans to leave the show for a while during an interview with Work and Pensions Minster Victoria Prentis. He said: "The final question is from me. It's probably because my main evening television show is starting so I might not be on this programme for a while...

"I could do with your help please, because I'm very confused about what to tell people about the economy."

The Martin Lewis Money Show will be made up of hour-long evening specials, where Martin will be joined by Angelica Bell as they look to explore the economic issues affecting Brits and take questions from the audience. The presenter is expected to return to GMB later this year.
