ITV Good Morning Britain guest tells presenter Kate Garraway she 'smells'

Presenter Kate Garraway was told by a guest she 'smells' on ITV's Good Morning Britain yesterday (February 22). The 55-year-old has stepped in for Susanna Reid this week, while she is away in Kyiv to report - due to it being almost a year since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

She was joined by co-host Ed Balls as they welcomed disaster search and rescue volunteers Neil Woodmansey, Ashley Hildred and Mark Dungworth onto the show. They discussed travelling to Turkey, reports LancsLive, to help those affected by the devastating earthquake earlier this month.

A hero rescue dog, Colin the collie, also sat on the studio sofa - who had assisted Neil, Ashley and Mark during their ten days of helping with the rescue effort. Kate asked: "For all those people watching who can't get their dog to walk to heel, how did you train Colin to be so extraordinary? Give us some tips."

Neil went on to explain how Colin loved toys as a reward as a puppy and said: "So what you do is, you've got the toy and you don't give him it, you tease him so he barks at you and then he gets the toy. So eventually, and I am not being rude Kate, but you smell. I mean we all smell."

Former Labour MP, Ed quickly jumped in: "I mean tell me about it, tell me about it! It's all in the morning, thank God you've said it." Kate then awkwardly laughed as she held her show notes close to her face and added: "I am just crumpling."

Neil admitted that what he said "came out wrong". Kate laughed off the remark and asked him to carry on explaining how Colin was trained.

He continued: "The reality is we all smell and the dog will always pick up your scent. The idea is you hide [a toy] and the collie comes leaping for it and the idea is if your smell is coming out Colin will smell it."

The adorable black and white dog sat up on the sofa and let out a soft bark and grumble which led Kate to joke: "You see, Colin is jumping to my defence."
