ITV Good Morning Britain guest in 'meltdown' over Adil Ray clash as he moans 'everyone's against me'

A Good Morning Britain guest moaned 'everyone's against me' as he was challenged on remarks he made during a discussion of the latest news headlines. Hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway were at the helm of the ITV news programme on Thursday (June 16).

The pair were joined live in the studio by Quentin Letts and Ayesha Hazarika as they spoke about some of the biggest stories this morning, including what the government’s next move will be over plans to deport those who enter the UK illegally to Rwanda.

A plane due to take several individuals to the landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley of Central Africa was grounded on Tuesday night (June 14) after last-minute interventions by the European Court of Human Rights. However, the government was said to be "highly confident" that the next deportation flight taking asylum seekers to Rwanda will go ahead.

But it has now been reported that ministers have been told deportation flights to Rwanda could be delayed by a year. It comes as more than 440 people were found trying to cross the English Channel on the same day the first flight was stopped from leaving the UK at the eleventh hour.

Talking about the latest developments on GMB, Adil ended up clashing with Quentin, a parliamentary sketch writer and journalist for The Times, over how best to handle those who try to make the journey across the English Channel which can sometimes prove fatal.

While Adil asked why the situation should be any 'different' to Ukrainians given the opportunity to seek refuge in the UK through legal methods, seen following Russia's invasion of the country which began earlier this year, Quentin replied: "Because Ukrainians, as far as I know, aren’t washing up dead on the beaches of Dover."

Adil responded: "That’s my point, they’re not because they’re allowed to apply online, so if they didn’t have an online visa system… actually some of them are at Calais. Most of them, because they’ve got an online visa system. The Afghans do not have an online visa system. It’s different."

As Quentin argued there are 'procedures' in place for those travelling from countries such as Afghanistan to come to the UK legally. But Adil hit back: "It's not the case, so why is there a difference?"

Quentin then fired: "You've asked me on this programme and you never let me actually answer a question. There are procedures, there are perfectly legal procedures for people to come in, but what the people using the boats are doing, they’re paying money to scoot around the rules."

The pair couldn't agree (ITV)

While the host pointed out again that there are ‘not legal routes’ like with those coming over from Ukraine, Quentin exclaimed: "I give up," to which Adil replied: "It’s my job to correct you Quentin."

Not letting it go, Quentin replied: "It’s not actually, you ask a question and then you don’t let me answer it." But as they continued their discussion, Quentin complained: "There’s no point talking to you because the four of you are against me, it’s just absolutely pointless."

"No one's against you - we're having a debate, a discussion!" Adil insisted before fellow guest Ayesha pointed out: "We're looking at the facts!" Quentin didn't appear happy and after the break, Adil quipped: "Quentin, are you still with us?" to which he mumbled in response: "Just about!"

And GMB viewers were soon commenting on social media. @ImIncorrigible tweeted: "Poor Quentin Letts had a minor meltdown over the Tory Rwanda policy on #GMB this morning." @huertanueva shared: "Honestly, the Quentin Letts meltdown on #GMB was a joy to watch. Well don @adilray."
