Dr Hilary Jones has issued a warning about rising coronavirus case numbers on Good Morning Britain.
Today's edition of the ITV news programme was anchored by Adil Ray and Susanna Reid. They were joined by the TV doctor, who addressed the current Covid-19 situation on the two year anniversary since the government announced the first lockdown.
Cases are continuing to rise across the country as the Liverpool City Region recorded at least a 50% rise in weekly covid infections. Dr Hilary urged people to remain vigilant in the wake of rising case numbers and warned the pandemic isn't over yet.

He said: "This has been a dreadful, global infection which is still continuing. Cases are rising now.
"They are rising due to the Omicron variant - which is more transmissible and less severe. There may be other variants coming. We can't be complacent.
"Hospitalisations are increasing so death rates are up by 17 per cent as well. We need to be vigilant. Wales are thinking of extending their restrictions because of a surge of cases there right now."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub
