ITV Good Morning Britain: 'Best moment ever' as hungover Laura Tobin spills coffee over desk after turning up late for work

Viewers of Good Morning Britain were alarmed to see a missing presenter from their screens after being informed she had "overslept".

Laura Tobin, 40, was due to present the weather forecast for the weekend ahead on the popular ITV morning show. Presenters Ben Shepherd and Kate Garraway informed their audience they were a person down on the show after a late night out with the team caused the meteorologist to be late for work.

Fans of the programme couldn’t help but notice her absence as Kate and Ben welcomed Charlotte Hawkins onto the show who was ready to step in for the regular weather segment.

"We are as they say 'a man down' on the team this morning. There was a big night last night in the world of news," Ben explained. The Ultimate News Quiz invites a whole host of TV and News personalities to battle it out in a current affairs quiz, and the GMB team snagged the trophy.

Weather presenter Laura Tobin was part of the winning team at last night's quiz in London, showing pictures of her holding the trophy among her peers. "Laura likes to celebrate doesn't she?" Kate asked.

"She does, and she's not often the first to bed in these situations either. And also she's the last to wake up this morning, she's overslept," Ben announced. The camera then panned to an empty chair revealing the weather presenter was absent.

When she appeared later on in the programme, the GMB team was quick to poke fun at Laura's late arrival as she claims she forgot to set her alarm when she went to bed last night.

"One thing I forgot to do was to set an alarm to wake up," the presenter joked. as she held the trophy from Thursday night's news quiz She thanked the programme's deputy editor for phoning her to wake her up for Friday morning's programme.

"I'm not entirely sure the words I said to her were polite, and I'm here. After showing the public watching at home her breakfast of chicken nuggets, she proceeded to spill her coffee over her desk.

"Should we actually let Laura on live television?" presenter Ben quipped. Kate added: "Has anybody breathalysed her?"

The weather presenter proceeded to say she was "fine" after the slight mishap.

Fans on Twitter were quick to congratulate the team on their win on Thursday night and one person branded Laura's mishap as 'the best moment ever' on GMB for years. @simonsgreen1: "Oh how we do love Laura .. best moment in GMB for years .. hope they don’t milk it like they do .. have a laugh and move on."

@AirbusRed added: "Oops! Winner, winner chicken dinner. Congratulations Laura and team."

Good Morning Britain is broadcast from 6am on ITV every weekday.
