ITV GMB viewers say Matt Hancock 'made a t*** out of himself' as he attempted to defend I'm A Celeb fee donation

Good Morning Britain viewers reckoned Matt Hancock made 'a t**t of himself' as he was questioned by hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley on Tuesday's programme (January 31).

The former MP was grilled over why he'd only given 3% of his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here fee to charity as he'd promised. Susanna asked on the ITV early morning show: "You gave £10,000 out of £330,000, why not give all of it to charity?"

Matt said that he believed he'd given a "substantial amount" to his chosen charities, one being the dyslexic charity which he's vice president of, reports the Daily Star. He added: "I gave a substantial amount. I think it's still decent and the money I donated is more than my MP salary".

But Susanna pressed on, unsatisfied with Matt's responses. "Couldn't they have benefitted from more of your fee rather than £10,000 out of a quarter of a million?" she pushed.

Viewers took to social media to complain about the "car crash" interview which saw the former Health Secretary "make a tw*t of himself." One tweeted: "@MattHancock is making a right t**t out of himself on #gmb again. Bloke can’t tell the truth at all."

A second wrote: "Matt Hancock is having a car crash interview on #GMB right now! Wow, is he really that dumb or is he just pretending? No wonder the UK is in such a mess with this calibre of politician on the front benches."

"Matt Hancock on GMB. What a car crash interview. I don’t think that’s how he wanted it to go," a third noted. A fourth added: "Well done @GMB @susannareid100 car crash @MattHancock - you did it for the money and because your narcissism thinks we all need to see you. We don’t. Apart from at the inquiry."

Later in the interview, Richard asked if Matt's future was in showbiz and despite claiming that his plan for 2023 is still in the works, he didn't directly decline when asked if he'd like to "sit in Richard's chair" as a host on GMB.

"Would you like to sit in Richard's chair? Would you like to be in the Piers Morgan 'mincer' as you call it?" Susanna asked, and Matt only laughed in response.
