Martin Lewis put his head in his hands as he clashed with Edwina Currie on Good Morning Britain.
The consumer champion will front the ITV news programme every Monday throughout September alongside Susanna Reid. The episodes have been dubbed "Martin's Money Mondays" as the finance guru issues advice to viewers on the mounting cost of living crisis.
Shock forecasts predict the energy price cap will soar over £5,000 in April - and the broadcasters were joined by Edwina Currie who criticised Martin for describing the skyrocketing prices as a "catastrophe".

The former Tory MP proceeded to share her tips for keeping warm this winter and unveiled a roll of tinfoil. She added: "If you put some of this behind your radiators, it really works.
"It makes the whole room nice and warm and means you can turn down your thermostat without it causing you some discomfort." The finance guru was visibly baffled by the advice and held his head in his hands.
He shot back: "You can't ignore the rising bills. That's what the catastrophe is, it's not my language." Butcher Ieuan Edwards also appeared on the show as bills for his company are set to go from £2,500 a week to £15k a week.
He said: "Edwina made some valid points, but that would cover 1 or 2%. What about the other 595% of the increase on that bill?.
Viewers following the show on Twitter slammed Ms Currie's tips for being "out of touch".
Grant said: "Edwina Currie is so out of touch"
Keith added: "Edwina Currie is so out of touch with the real world"
Amy posted: "How out of touch & patronising can these people be? She's actually taking exception at Martin Lewis calling a catastrophe a catastrophe!!"
Theo tweeted: "Hold up, Edwina just said her bills are high and she thinks it isn't a catastrophe. She is so out of touch."
