ITV For the Love of Dogs: Paul O'Grady can't help but take 'friendliest' stray home

Paul O'Grady was back for more For the Love of Dogs on Wednesday evening, and felt compelled to adopt a "hairy little monster" called Sausage.

The 66-year-old often finds it hard to resist taking the animals home with him, and already had five dogs, as well as pigs, sheep, chickens, goats and owls.

Last night's instalment of the much-loved show saw Paul fall head over heels for a stray daschund called Sausage.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Paul confirmed he had adopted her.

Paul said: "In tonight’s episode I take this hairy little monster home. She’s called Sausage which isn’t very original but it doesn’t matter as she can’t understand a word of English except for ‘biscuit’

"She gets on with all the others except for Conchita who simply ignores her but Nancy loves her and together they’re a right pair of hooligans.

"So far Sausage has eaten her way through a couple of dog beds, an armchair, endless pairs of socks and shoes and the stair carpet but she’s the friendliest dog on the planet so what’s a pair of shoes between friends?"

Fans commented on his kindness and generosity.

"Having lost the end of my mattress, a rocking chair leg, nearly every sponge or cloth I put down and several carpets....I totally understand, but the joy you get in return is immeasurable!"
