ITV fear Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield could be booed at NTAs after queue-gate

ITV bosses are said to be worried that This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield could be booed at the National Television Awards following queue-gate.

Sources have claimed the pair created a 'hoo-ha' when they turned up at Westminster Hall with two colleagues last week to film a special segment for the ITV show - seeming to 'skip' the lengthy queue outside in order to see the Queen Elizabeth II's lying-in-state ahead of her state funeral on Monday, September 19.

ITV denied the claims, telling Mirror Online: "Phillip and Holly had full accreditation which was organised by the This Morning production team. Any claims otherwise are untrue."

The duo have faced a public petition calling for them to be sacked as presenters of This Morning and have been trolled mercilessly since the footage showed them being taken through to Westminster Hall to film a segment for the daytime TV show, as thousands waited for hours in the queue outside.

The NTAs take place at Wembley Arena on Thursday, October 13 and according to The Sun, bosses are concerned that the longest standing TV presenting duo could get heckled on the red carpet to the event or potentially on stage.

This Morning has won either the Daytime Award or Live Magazine Show/Topical Magazine Programme Award at the ceremony every year since 2011.

A source said: “They could be booed walking down the red carpet or even on stage. It’s a major concern.”

Neither presenter have spoken publicly to the camera about the incident, which has been dubbed 'queuegate', but Holly returned to social media to support Loose Woman Kaye Adams' debut on Strictly Come Dancing.

Sharing a snap of Kaye dancing in a red dress with her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington, Holly captioned the screenshot: "G'wan @kayeadamsofficial ... This emoji was made for you [dancing lady emoji]."

Holly's latest Instagram update comes just hours after she broke her social media silence to congratulate pal Lisa Snowdon on winning Celebrity MasterChef on Friday, as she and Phil continue to be trolled over the false accusations of 'jumping the queue' at the late monarch's lying in state.

Despite the backlash, Holly's contract with the high street retailer M&S, who she signed a deal to become a brand ambassador with in 2018, is said to have been extended, however, as a number of lucrative ad deals with brands, seems to have been quietly removed from the We Buy Any Car social media accounts.

The Mirror has contacted ITV representatives for further comment.
