Emmerdale viewers worked out an alarming twist as Laurel Thomas was convinced she made a breakthrough.
Wednesday's episode continued to explore the fallout of Rishi Sharma's mystery intruder. It was revealed Marshall Hamston was hiding in Rishi's flat to escape his dad's attempts to send him to boarding school.
The character, played by Max Fletcher, has recently arrived in the soap and is the potential love interest of Arthur Thomas. The two have developed a close friendship, which was stunted by Marshall's homophobic dad, Colin.

Marshall explained his concerns to Laurel Thomas in tonight's show who stepped in to try and resolve the situation. Laurel insisted she needed to call Colin to resolve the matter.
Marshall's dad arrived at the cafe and said all the right things as he seemed to reconcile with Arthur. Laurel was convinced the situation had been resolved as she claimed she made a breakthrough.
However, fans on Twitter were alarmed the character, played by Charlotte Bellamy, had been duped by Colin and Marshall was now in danger.
Sue said: "I dont think this is going to end well with Marshall, dads putting on a mr nice guy front"
Chris added: "Laurel showing she's still the 2002/03 Laurel gullible"
Jehan tweeted: "oh please. Imo Marshall's dad has giving nothing but lip service."
Andy commented: "Oh, Laurel, what have you done?"
The episode ended on an ominous note when Arthur echoed viewers' concerns. The character told Laurel: "He would never do that. He's massively homophobic. He'd never change his mind in one day." He added: "He hasn't changed and he never will."
Laurel was concerned after Arthur's comments as she said: "I think I've made a huge mistake."
