Emmerdale legend Mark Charnock was keen to tell fans of a schedule change that appears to have left them very disappointed. The actor, who is famed for playing Marlon Dingle in the ITV soap, was due to be on-screen on Monday night (December 5) but not as his character.
Emmerdale is currently off-air until Wednesday with ITV's usual schedule still being switched around for coverage of the World Cup which is being held this winter in Qatar. This means that fans won't get their fix of drama from the Dales, and the cobbles of Coronation Street until later in the week.
On Wednesday (December 7) Emmerdale will air an extended hour-long episode at 7pm followed by Corrie in its usual 8pm slot. The same will also be aired on Thursday and Friday meaning fans of both soaps will be fully up to speed by Friday (December 9).

But as an extra festive treat, the annual The Big Quiz, which sees stars of both programme's go head-to-head in a battle of the ITV soaps, will be back. Fans were expecting to see the episode on Monday evening, with the ad for the episode even naming December 5 as its air date.
However, there appears to have been a late change on the soapy quiz will now air on Friday at 9pm, following the airing of both soaps Confirming the news, Mark tweeted: "Last minute change due to World Cup: THE BIG QUIZ, #Emmerdale vs #Corrie no longer on tonight. Now screening Friday 9th at 9pm."
And fans weren't too thrilled by the move. @Barbara48361606 complained: "Are u serious and here’s me looking forward to it this getting beyond a joke the sooner this World Cup is over the better." @CeeCee1973 simply replied: "Oh FFS!!!" But @juliarmurgy saw the positive side and added: "Aww, was just telling my hubby it was on tonight lol. Look forward to seeing it Friday then."
Some, however, had also been confused when Emmerdale and Corrie put out its schedule on social media for this week. Jules Bill wrote on Facebook: "The big Quiz was advertised for tonight, according to the ad this morning?" Samantha Crawshaw added: "I thought the big quiz was on tonight."
And there were still some complaints about the football. Millicent Ellis said: "Glad when football is over. It should have its own channel when it goes on for week." Wendy Hodgetts wrote: "I feel sorry for old folk who don’t live football. Sport should be on itv 2 leave itv 1 alone they get so confused and it’s there only entertainment as most only have free view if that. No excuses."
But back to The Big Quiz: Coronation Street v Emmerdale, and viewers will soon get to see Stephen Mulhern back as host as Mark leads team Emmerdale and Jack P Shepherd heads up team Corrie. Jack will be joined by Sally Dynevor and Ryan Russell while Mark will be accompanied by Nicola Wheeler and Jurell Carter.
