ITV Emmerdale's Marlon Dingle actor pays emotional tribute as cast member quits

ITV soap star Mark Charnock has paid an emotional tribute to fellow actress Elizabeth Boag after she made her exit from Emmerdale. As viewers watched Elizabeth’s character Gail Hancock take her final scenes, Mark Charnock who plays Marlon Dingle, took to Twitter to say goodbye to the character.

Emmerdale fans now want bosses to bring Gail back after they watched the nurse care for Marlon on the hospital ward after he was left bed bound from a stroke.

As the Mirror reports, taking to Twitter, Elizabeth posted: "Bye Gail! Thank you @markcharnock, @ZoeHenry03, all the cast, crew and casting team @ emmerdale. Loved every minute!" Mark replied: "You were wonderful in the part, Liz! Just superb xx."

Fans are desperate to see Elizabeth stay in the part, with one writing: "Make Liz a regular as Gail. Fantastic acting. The continuity of character and the attention to detail surpasses most TV and film."

Another typed: "Isn’t the local doctors needing a nurse after theirs went to prison? Let’s have Gail as a regular!" Another added: "You need a job in the surgery, a nurse that comes across as real and normal!"

"You were like a breath of fresh air, I’m gutted you are gone… We need you back ASAP," a fourth gushed.

As well as her role on Emmerdale, Elizabeth has featured on Casualty and Silent Witness.

She's also appeared in Doctors and Bruised Sky.

It comes as fans pointed out a glaring blunder during the latest instalment of the ITV soap, as Marlon returned home after he suffered a debilitating stroke.

The character overheard a heart-breaking discussion on Monday after he returned home from the hospital.

Fiancé Rhona Goskirk was excited to have Marlon finally home, as Mary tried to assure her that she would be there to support them during the transition.

As April gave him the glass of water, one Emmerdale fan said she had “yanked” his head back - and should have been told how to properly give her dad a drink by medical staff.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the moment, one savagely wrote: “April chucking water down Marlon's gob like she's trying to put out a fire.”

Another chimed: “Maybe they could've showed April how to help Marlon & what to do if he choked.”

“You wouldn’t give Marlon water that quickly & surely everyone would have been shown how to give liquids,” another posted.

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV.
