ITV Emmerdale's Ellis Chapman exit storyline confirmed but fans spot problem

Emmerdale was under fire tonight as Ellis Chapman's exit storyline was confirmed.

The long-running soap continued to explore the lead-up to Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher's wedding on the latest episode.

Ellis is played by Aaron Anthony - and the character was set to play a major role in the big day as Billy's best man.

However, he had some bad news for Billy as he revealed he had been offered a job in Australia.

Ellis said they need him to start next week and was debating whether he could turn down the opportunity of a lifetime.

Billy gave his blessing for his best friend to take the job, but spoilers reveal Ellis will struggle to reveal the news to Al Chapman and Belle Dingle.

However, the storyline came under criticism from Emmerdale viewers on Twitter who slammed the job prospect as "unrealistic".

Paul said: "Hahaha, Australian Visa in a week?!"

Samantha commented: "And just like that… the easiest and quickest obtained visa to Australia EVER!!!…"

Todd posted : "Australia? Come on, why not the USA or the Caribbean? At least make a sound a bit realistic."

Bobby added: "Yeah, I’m sure you can’t just move to Australia with a weeks notice. Do the writers think we are thick?"

Betty said: "So Ellis can leave for a job in Australia within a week? I don't think so."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV and ITV Hub with an additional episode at 8pm on Thursdays
