ITV Emmerdale's Dominic Brunt announces big career move after fears he would be axed from soap

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has announced a career change after previously speaking of his fears for his soap future.

Dominic Brunt, 52, has played Emmerdale favourite Paddy Kirk for 25 years who is one of the soap’s best-loved characters. Away from the soap, some fans might be surprised to know of his other career.

Dominic has been directing an upcoming horror film Wolf Manor. It is something of a departure from his Emmerdale role as lovable vet Paddy.

Taking to Twitter, the actor, who has a passion for horror and zombie flicks, said: "A bit of news. We wrapped on our new feature film ‘Wolf Manor’ over the weekend.

"It’s a werewolf film and you’re going to love it. If you follow us @wolfmanorfilm we’ll follow you back straight away. Thank you."

In the film, Dominic will also be making a cameo as a cannibal named Podge. If you are brave enough to see the film you should apparently be able to recognise Dominic through the chainsaw he carries.

Wolf Manor will be released in cinemas on Friday, September 21. We’ll bring you more about it when we have further information.

Dominic having an extra string to his bow is probably no bad thing as he’s previously spoken about his fear of Paddy being killed off in Emmerdale. During an interview previewing Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary plans he reflected on his time in the soap.

“If I was to go tomorrow though, I wouldn’t complain because I’ve had 25 amazing years – but long may it continue,” Dominic said. “I absolutely love that job to pieces. I can’t explain to you what it means to me.”

We’ve seen Paddy involved in his fair share of major storylines - including lots of ups and downs in love. He’s made a host of fans from Emmerdale’s millions of viewers.

“I saw a picture the other day for the 25th anniversary and I’m in the picture, and I just think ‘oh my god, 25 years ago?’ It feels like seven,” Dominic explained. “Your life just flashes along so quickly, but I’ve been so lucky.

“God knows how many bullets I’ve dodged in that. I’m just so grateful that they’re still writing for us and trusting us with these storylines.”
