ITV Emmerdale labelled 'depressing' by viewers amid Faith's cancer heartbreak news

As Emmerdale heads towards its 50th anniversary there are a number of storylines facing a shocking end. Last night's episode saw Clemmie accused of biting Millie which turned out to be false and Faith is facing the thought of dying after being told by her nurse that her illness was getting worse.

Friday's episode received criticism from viewers, with people saying they are sick of the upsetting and emotional scenes. The main story in tonight's episode was about Faith and her cancer.

On Thursday, viewers saw fan favourite Faith Dingle break down in tears after realising she could be dead in less than a month.

During a chat with a nurse, she admitted: "It's exhausting, always having to be Faith Dingle," as the healthcare professional tried to encourage her to speak to her children Chas and Cain a bit more.

"These people love you Faith, maybe try and open up to them a little bit at a time," she told her before Faith asked: "Is this the end?"

Viewers took to social media to discuss the storyline, asking for a more uplifting episode once in a while.

Artful Dodger said on Twitter: "Upsetting scenes in #Emmerdale again. Can we please have a cheerful episode, like just once? And some humour?"

Foxy said: "Yayyy upsetting and emotional scenes just what we need on a Friday night lol"

As well as Faith's story, viewers were also treated to revelation involving Clemmie and Millie. Fans threw a recent conspiracy theory into the mix about Millie being bitten by Clemmie.

Clemmie was blamed for the bite, but it turns out it wasn't Clemmie that bit Millie. During a talk with her parents, Millie admitted the truth, causing more drama between the families.

The final part of the episode saw a walk between Moira and Faith, in which Faith discussed her next steps as she faces up to the truth that she doesn't have long left.

A teary Moira confronts Faith when she mentions ending it before things get really bad, asking if she has spoken to her family about her other options. Moira bursts into tears when Faith says "it's not how I do it, it's more when."

Moira urges Faith to talk to Cain and Chaz and until then, asks her to keep her options open. Viewers reacted to this sad storyline on social media.

Owen said: "Is this the bit where Faith asks Moira to help her die after she admits she hasn't got long left?"

Some viewers said Moira is being someone Faith deserves, one person said: "Moira being the daughter that Faith deserves - instead of Chas the one she's lumbered with"

The episode ended with Faith contemplating what she will do next.
