ITV Emmerdale fans turn detective and 'work out' who Gabby Thomas shot

Emmerdale took the tension up a notch this week. In the latest episode of the long running soap, the show ended with Gabby Thomas firing a gun and running off when she spotted a body.

Gabby, played by actress Rosie Bentham, has been left frightened for her life believing that her ex, Jamie Tate, has returned to take her son away from her.

In a special week of intensive drama on Emmerdale, flash forward clips have shown viewers what to expect at the start of each episode. Wednesday night's episode showed a gun being fired, Liverpool Echo reported.

Scenes later revealed that it was Gabby at the hands of the gun. Who was on the other end? Fans think they have figured it out and they took to Twitter to share theories.

They seemed to think that the unknown body lying on the floor could be a figure of Gabby's imagination. One Twitter user said: "Is Gabby imagining it all? Has she got postnatal depression? Not watched for ages but just a thought #Emmerdale."

Another added: "Oh someone was there, I thought Gabby was daydreaming. #Emmerdale." Meanwhile, a third said: "#Emmerdale It would be hilarious if Gabby really did just spook herself into this situation and there was nobody stalking her."

Previous episodes have shown that the new mum believes her baby's father, Jamie, played by Alexander Lincoln, is the hooded figure appearing on CCTV tapes. Gabby has learnt that Jamie is still alive after faking his own death. Gabby also found a gift for her son Thomas which convinced her that Jamie could be back for revenge - or to steal her son.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
