Emmerdale fans were once again shouting at their telly as Leyla Cavanagh's destructive behaviour continued. Viewers of the ITV soap know all about the wedding planner's drug addiction, even though she's not admitting she has a problem.
They did, however, think it could have been over last month when Leyla was caught about to take the drugs she has been secretly buying in her office when ex-David Metcalfe walked in on her. He was completely horrified but Leyla tried to wriggle her way out of it, claiming she'd only done drugs a few times in recent weeks before explaining she had had a tough year following the death of her step-daughter Leanna and nearly being killed by Meena.
David threatened to tell her husband Liam as he didn't believe what she was telling him but Leyla pleaded with the shop owner, saying that she wasn't an addict, but when he threatened to tip the white powder away, she visibly panicked before quickly changing her tune in a bid to get David to believe her lies.
He eventually agreed to stay quiet, but under the promise that she would attend narcotics anonymous meetings in order to help her get over her drug use. But Leyla played David and ended up going to an Italian class happening in the same place as the meeting. Meanwhile, Leyla is spiraling, losing business from Kim Tate while using money from Rhona Gokirk's wedding to pay her back.
During the latest episode, which aired on Monday night (August 1), the business owner ended up firing her colleague Priya Sharma on the spot for gross misconduct after she used the company credit card to take a client to lunch. "I can't work with you if I can’t trust you," she said, as Priya appeared in shock as she was sacked in front of Suzy Merton and Vanessa Woodfield.
Later, Leyla called her drug dealer Callum when he ominously said he would be ‘calling in a favour’ at some point. But she didn't seem to care and happily got her latest batch of drugs ready while celebrating she had the business all to herself.
But Emmerdale fans were soon commenting on social media, unable to understand why nobody has noticed Leyla erratic behaviour. @its_gill_innit tweeted: "Leyla is getting on my wick. Doesnt anyone in the village see the massive change in her personality, or what? #emmerdale."
@Chris1968E echoed: "#Emmerdale not one of the people in that tiny nosey village can see how Leyla changes from nasty to hyper quicker than she can changer knickers." @Jamal06122771 fumed about the latest scenes Leyla so wants to be the most hated person in the village, and she is going about it the right way. Hope Priya takes this "unfair dismissal" further. Take that smirk off her face. #emmerdale."
