ITV Emmerdale fans speechless moments after jury returns Meena's verdict

Emmerdale fans were shocked to see Carol Butler attack Meena after she received a guilty verdict, saying they 'didn't see it coming.'

All week long, Meena appeared in court to defend herself from murder accusations after throwing Leanna off a bridge. As Manpreet and Liam took to the stands to deliver damning testimonials, the case appeared to go back and forth.

In tonight's hour-long special, the case was finally closed on the murderer as she was found guilty on all charges by the jury. Whilst speculation was high all week as to what the verdict would be, fans weren't expecting a courtroom attack.

After hearing the verdict, Meena broke down and began shouting at the judge. She said: "This is nuts. I am innocent, you need to stop this now. You call this justice?"

As Liam revelled in the stands, Carol Butler bursts into the courtroom with a piece of broken glass. Angry about Meena also murdering her sister, she lunges for Meena with the shard. What followed was a hostage situation as Meena manages to turn the tables, holding the glass to her sister Manpreet's throat.

One viewer said: "Oh my god! Carol's stabbed Meena! That's one way to end this nightmare tonight! #Emmerdale". Another added: "oh my god this episode is insane #Emmerdale".

Viewers also said they were "delighted" with the guilty outcome and happy to see Meena finally pay the price. One viewer said: "#Emmerdale Absolutely delighted. At least the writers got it right - in this instance at least." Another added: "OMG! She’s been found guilty!!! #emmerdale".

Meena continued to hold the courtroom and began toying with Liam, bringing up their affair. As police tried to intervene, she made a run for it with Manpreet still at her side, threatening to kill her if she is caught.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
