ITV Emmerdale fans share plea for change to Faith story be made as they fear end for popular couple

Emmerdale fans have shared a plea with show bosses to make a change to a current storyline. There were more emotional scenes as the ITV soap returned to screens on Monday night (September 26).

The heavy scenes actually started during Friday's episode when Faith Dingle accidentally revealed to daughter-in-law Moira Dingle she was considering taking her own life as her cancer continued to progress. Earlier this year the character, played by Sally Dexter, was given the devastating news her cancer was back and that it was terminal.

She has since endeavored to make the most of the time she has left with no treatment, much to her daughter Chas' upset. However, her health has taken a downward turn with her suffering more spells of confusion, the latest being with grandson Kyle, confusing him for her son, and his dad, Cain.

As they walked through the woods, Moira tried to convince Faith not to go through with an assisted death without telling her children. She said she'd keep Faith's secret but told her that she wouldn't personally assist her in ending her life. Fait, did, however, ask Moira to be there with her in her final moments, but when Moira broke down, Faith begged her not to tell her husband Cain.

The conversation has since been eating Moira up and in another conversation, Faith made it clear that if she told her children her plans, they'd never see her again. Moira tried once again to persuade Faith to change her mind but with no success.

She then tried to gauge Cain's feelings by discussing her own mother's death and how her brother, Mackenzie Boyd, may have saved her from the trauma of seeing her dying parent by not telling her at all. Cain, however, disagreed that he did her a favour and says she should have known.

But when she referenced the heartbreak he is clearly suffering, he hurried off into the village. Moira then accompanied Faith to the woods, saying that "no one should have to make a choice like this" and in the heartbreaking scenes at the end of the episode, Moira tearfully agreed to go through with Faith's request for her to be with her at the end, but not help assist her death.

While Faith was relieved, Emmerdale fans have been left pleading with Moira to change her mind, fearing that if what really happened came out, her and Cain would be over for good. @phillippawaite said: "I don't like this. I hope it doesn't actually happen like this for poor Moira."

@maz7310 wrote: "You can see the repercussions if Moira does this it will be the end for her and Cain." @pamchahal71 begged: "Please don't let Moira go ahead with this. Not fair on Cain and Chas she will never be forgiven." @janemkelly1957 echoed: "Brilliant acting by both actors but Faith should not put Moira in the position of lying to Cain. Please @emmerdale whatever you do DON'T use this storyline to split them up AGAIN!!"

@Jamal06122771 tweeted: "No, No, No Moira you need to tell Chas and Cain. When Faith is gone, you will have to deal with the backlash from Chas and Cain. #emmerdale." @mikepriestley13 added: "Moira will end up losing everything even her freedom now she’s said she will help faith die #Emmerdale."

Emmerdale has been working on this storyline with Dignity in Dying, an organisation campaigning for laws to change to allow for assisted death in cases of terminal illness. The show's researchers, producers and actors have met with the organisation so they can accurately reflect the realities faced by someone like Faith.
