Emmerdale fans couldn't help but make the same observation about Cain Dingle's prison stint as it is revealed that he's set for release. The character, played by Jeff Hordley, has been doing all he can to keep his son, Kyle, from being put behind bars as he took the blame for killing Al Chapman.
While fans of the ITV soap were initially led to believe that Cain had finally committed the ultimate crime and killed off Al in cold blood over his affair with sister Chas. However, a flashback episode later revealed that it was Kyle who was the one who really shot Al.
The panicked youngster caught the pair fighting and feared for his dad's life. And with the shotgun Cain had brought along set to one side, Kyle grabbed it and threatened Al. But as he was about to put the weapon down, Al lunged forward leading Kyle to stop back and set off the gun.
Cain was quick to take the blame for his son and has been in prison ever since. But Kyle has been struggling with keeping his actions a secret and during the latest trip to the Dales, on Wednesday evening, Kyle was seen again confessing to the police and begging for his dad to be released.
It comes after Cain's long-lost brother Caleb, who arrived on Christmas Day, said he would be able to help get Cain out and get Kyle off on a lesser charge thanks to his legal contacts. Cain, however, has been outraged that his wife, Moira, has gone against his wishes and accepted the newcomer's help.
And in heartbreaking scenes set to air on Thursday night (January 12), Emmerdale fans will see Moira shocked to see Cain, fresh out of prison. But it comes at a price as in heartbreaking scenes, Moira, Amy and the Dingles say an emotional goodbye to Kyle as the social workers take him away following his killer confession.
However, as fans watched the latest scenes unfold, they couldn't help but be distracted by Cain's stint in prison as he appears to get more visitors there then he does when he's at home. It came after Sam Dingle paid him a visit before he was re-interviewed by the police following Kyle's admission.
