Emmerdale fans have said they were left 'cringing' as David Metcalfe and Victoria Barton shared a heart to hearts. Unknown to his girlfriend, David has been having some serious money troubles, leaving his business at risk of going under and him unable to afford his child support for daughter, Amber.
While he told his dad, Eric Pollard, about his financial difficulties the B&B owner wouldn't give him any cash and instead offered him a job with him if he cut his losses with the shop. But David wasn't having any of it and when his dad's girlfriend, Brenda, offered to loan him her savings, he lashed out and rudely claimed it wasn't enough to solve his debt.
Then, after a bump in his van with neighbour Nicola King, who is suffering following her horror attack, David decided he was going to falsely claim he suffered whiplash in order to get compensation to try and banish his money worries.

But his plan to commit insurance fraud was soon caught out by his son Jacob and his girlfriend Victoria. So, in an attempt to prevent her boyfriend from getting into trouble with the law over his crippling debts, Victoria considered selling her inherited farmland to cover his debts.
During scenes aired in Monday night's edition (July 4) of the ITV soap, the loved-up pair were seen taking in the sprawling view of Beckindale from the top of the farm, before talking about how they are going to battle their money issues.
Victoria told her other half: "Dreams aren't real but what we have is and if my gran was here she'd tell me to do what makes me happy and so would my dad," to which David replied: "You'd really give all of this up for me?" Without hesitation, Victoria replied: "For us," before adding: "But for now on, if we've got a problem [then] we share it. We keep talking about marriage and our future but we can't have that if we keep acting like kids."
David then commented: "The problem is, I don't want to do anything that means I lose you." But Emmerdale viewers were soon commenting the scenes, and were also referring back to a earlier warning which prepared viewers for "scenes of distress which some viewers may find upsetting".
@itzzzo_ tweeted: "The distressing scenes must’ve been that cringey scene in the field with David and Victoria #Emmerdale." @teenamassam commented: "Most awkward laying in a field I’ve ever seen… #Emmerdale." @LunaLocoJewels said: "Why would you even lie in a field when it's full of bugs and spores and [poo emoji] probably? #emmerdale."
