Emmerdale fans have come up with a shock new theory after the news of Cain Dingle's imprisonment settled in. Earlier this week viewers of the ITV soap saw the character, played by Jeff Hordley, learn of his sister's affair with his former enemy, Al Chapman.
The pair have previously come to blows but made a truce earlier this year when Al saved Cain life. But the discovery of his secret relationship with his sister during his mother, Faith's, wake left Cain seeing red and he lured the shady businessman to a barn, with Al thinking he was meeting Chas.
He was, however, confronted by Cain with a shotgun. The pair ended up getting into a fight and in a scuffle for the gun, a shot rang out and it was later revealed that it was Al who had been fatally shot, leading to actor Michael Wildman's exit from the soap.

A panicked Cain was then caught trying to wipe any evidence off of his gun by Al's partner Kerry stormed in after hearing the shot while trying to convince Chloe Harris to stay in the village. She was shocked to find her partner dead on the ground before Cain fled the scene.
But Cain was later arrested at home and then charged at the police station with Al's murder. But Emmerdale fans are sure Cain isn't responsible. Following Tuesday's episode, viewers thought Cain could be covering for Chas' son, Aaron, who made a quick exit from the village after laying his little sister, Liv, to rest as he couldn't handle his mum lying to him about her affair with Al.
However, Wednesday night's trip to the Dales saw Chas paying Cain a visit in prison. She ended up blaming Cain for her having an affair after he told her to do whatever she needed to cope with Faith's terminal cancer diagnosis. Cain told Chas that her husband Paddy didn’t need to find out about the affair,
But Chas was quick to work out that the reason for that is that if the affair doesn't come to light, the police would know Cain’s motive for wanting to kill Al. He told his sister that her son Aaron wouldn’t say anything about the affair and that he got rid of her secret phone with proof of the affair.
While she reluctantly agreed to go along with her brother, Chas ended their meeting by telling Cain that she would never forgive him for killing Al. But as mentioned, Emmerdale fans think Cain is covering for someone else and after suggesting Aaron, talk has now turned to another character.

@avonskinggg tweeted: "Why do I have a gut instinct that maybe it was Kyle?? It was on Moira’s farm so maybe he stumbled across Al and his dad fighting and then picked up the gun#Emmerdale." @itzzzo_ posted: "The way Kyle is going on it’ll probably turn that he shot Al #Emmerdale." @kellymew_ added: "Cain is covering for Kyle .. calling it now #emmerdale."
