ITV Emmerdale Caleb Milligan star shares character's problem after explosive twist

Emmerdale's Will Ash has promised fireworks after the explosive reveal in tonight's episode.

The soap star has caused a stir since he arrived in the fictional Yorkshire village as Caleb Milligan. Viewers have been suspicious of the character's true motive as fans speculated whether Cain Dingle's long lost brother could actually be an undercover policeman.

Thursday's dramatic episode finally unveiled that Caleb is Frank Tate's long lost son. Spoilers show the character has travelled to the Yorkshire Dales to claim Home Farm from Kim Tate as he believes it is rightly is.

Will admitted he was relieved the speculation around his character could come to an end. He said: "It’s good for that part of the story to be out there, great for the audience so they don’t start losing interest in that thread.” Will has teased what is set to come next as a Tate vs Dingle showdown is on the cards.

He added: "There’s always been that clash between the Tates and the Dingles but it will really ramp it up now! It’s really big what Caleb and Nicky are attempting to do so there are a lot of fireworks ready to go off.”

However, Will pointed out a potential problem for his character as he said: "It could be a bit of a burden for them both as there's a foot in both families. It's really clever that they’ve used that device to see how much disruption these characters can cause."

Fans also suspected something sinister was at play with Nicky after the character proposed to Gabby Thomas. Viewers concerns were realised in tonight's show when Nicky was revealed to be Caleb's son.

The character is played by Lewis Cope and the soap star admitted the development came as a shock. He said: "I thought I was coming in as a love interest to Gabby, it was further down the line I got the scripts and it started to reveal itself for me. It was a nice surprise as I wasn’t preempting anything, I could just look at what was on the script and make that work.”

Will revealed he has installed Nicky at Home Farm to get further information about Home Farm and said tonight's episode is just the start of a dramatic story. He said: "We've started to film some of the scenes of us working together, where you find out more details, and they've been great for us to play. We haven’t had many scenes together before because of the nature of the story and so now it’s brilliant to start this new chapter.”

Lewis added: "Yes, you start to see the reasons why they are in the village, then you start seeing the relationship between the two of them and how they live, which is really interesting."
