ITV Dancing On Ice without another celebrity as they're forced to pull out of Sunday's show

Dancing On Ice is set to be a couple down this weekend after one of the celebrity stars suffered a fall.

ITV has confirmed that Kye Whyte will not be performing when the skating competition returns for week three on Sunday.

The Olympic BMX racer suffered a fall during rehearsals and will therefore miss Movie Week alongside professional partner Tippy Packard.

The pair were due to perform to The Matrix theme song.

A spokesperson for Dancing on Ice said on Saturday morning; "During rehearsals for this Sunday’s show, Kye fell on the ice and sustained an injury and will therefore not perform in this weekend’s show."

Kye, who took home a silver medal in the Men's BMX racing at the Tokyo Olympics last year, has sustained a sprain to his knee and the Dancing on Ice medical professionals have advised he does not perform in this weekend's show.

The sportsman said: "It’s an unfortunate accident. I’ve trained and worked hard with Tippy to perform this weekend. For me, as an athlete, I’m used to stuff like this happening where you get injured and can’t compete.

"I’m more sad for Tippy, she’s worked hard so not being able to skate is obviously upsetting. We both really wanted to do this number, it’s a cool performance and we put a lot of effort into it.

"I was so happy and excited for everyone when they skated last weekend. I was watching and couldn’t wait to skate this Sunday."

Kye added: "I’ll be there cheering everyone on!"

It comes after Rachel Stevens was forced to miss her Dancing On Ice debut last weekend.

The S Club 7 star sustained the injury last month which prevented her from joining the second batch of celebrities on the ITV show last weekend.

She is due to finally take to the ice alongside her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield on Sunday where they will skate to a track from Moulin Rouge by Patti LaBelle.

Stevens told ITV’s This Morning of her mixed emotions when she was watching the show and not being able to skate, saying: "I was so nervous.

"I was like, ‘What is going on? I’m not even skating’.

"But the frustration was just in the not being able to get on the ice. We’ve had six weeks, more actually, away from it."
