ITV Dancing On Ice star Patsy Palmer says she's been left 'panicking' ahead of next show

Former EastEnders' star and DJ Patsy Palmer appeared on Lorraine on Monday, January 23, a week after making her Dancing on Ice debut alongside her professional skating partner Matt Evers, who has been a pro on the show since it began 15 years ago.

And while it seems having two months to prepare for their first skating routine on the ITV show together paid off in the glittering comments she received from the judges - which include Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo and famous figure skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean - the 50-year-old actress, who now lives between London and LA, revealed that the panic is setting in as she faces the reality that she will now only have five days to learn new routines.

The ITV show, which airs every Sunday evening at 6.30pm, sees celebrities take to the ice rink to learn how to skate and dance on ice with the help of their professional figure skating partners in a bid to be crowned Dancing on Ice champion 2023.

On Sunday night's episode, former footballer John Fashanu became the first celebrity to be booted off the show after facing Love Island winner Ekin-Su in the dreaded skate-off. Next week, the stars will be performing a dance on ice that has been inspired by the "best of the West End".

Talking about what viewers can expect, Matt explained to Lorraine: "Musicals week. Huge show. It's the first time that all of the contestants compete against each other and it's the best of the West End so it's going to be areally exciting... I can't say much more but there are going to be some pretty amazing tracks, some pretty amazing special effects so, it's going to be great."

Patsy chimed in: "And if we ever get back on the ice this week, we might be able to pull together a performance for Sunday."

Matt added: "She's now panicking because we're now in the show, right? And there hasn't been two months rehearsal for one routine, we have five days now!" "Five days? That is ridiculous!" Patsy exclaimed, with a smile.

Earlier in the interview, the mother-of-three said she was having the time of her life on the show and revealed why she wanted to join and why now.

"When I turned 50 last year, I was shocked," she told Lorraine, 63. "I woke up and I was like 'I'm not sure this is right, can somebody correct me on this?'. I don't know how you were supposed to feel at 50 but I certainly feel 50. And I was like 'right I'm not having it. I don't feel my age, I'm going to just enjoy myself and do everything that I can do this year to have a good time. And just really challenge myself and see what it feels like. And this came up and everyone was saying 'do it do it do it', Denise Welch [who was on season six of the show], she was like 'Do it, it's the best thing I've ever done', and she was brilliant.

"She just said do it because it's going to be personal journey, and you're not going to understand what I mean until you do it. And I'm learning a lot about myself through this."

Dancing on Ice continues on ITV on Sundays at 6.30pm.
