ITV Dancing on Ice's Karen Barber says her 'heart is full' as she becomes grandmother

Dancing On Ice's Karen Barber has said her 'heart is full' after becoming a grandmother. The ice skating coach, who features on the popular ITV competition, took to her Twitter to share a photo of herself cuddling her grandson.

As reported by Birmingham Live, the photo shows Karen is seen smiling up at the camera while cuddling newborn Alfie. The star, whose partner is Dancing on Ice judge Christopher Dean, wrote: “Long awaited cuddles with Alfie, my heart is full.”

Fans commented to congratulate the ice skating legend, who is the 1983 European bronze medallist and competed at two Olympics with partner Nicky Slater. One wrote: “Karen I am so happy for you, I was lucky enough to become a grandmother nearly 15 years ago and I have loved every minute of it.”

Another said: “Being a grandma is the best job in the world. Congratulations.” A third added: “Awww, that’s adorable.”

Karen’s daughter Laura also appeared to tweet about the moment. She wrote: “Such a great series of Dancing on Ice this year, but Alfie is glad to get his Grandma back @Woo2Kaz.”

Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson was crowned the winner of Dancing on Ice with his professional partner Olivia Smart last weekend. Joey Essex and his partner Vanessa Bauer finished as runners-up.

The Vivienne and her partner Colin Grafton finished in third place. Karen works behind the scenes at Dancing On Ice, coaching the celebrities before their performances.

Karen used to be a judge on the panel from 2006 to 2011, then took on the role as head coach. She later returned to the judging panel in 2013 and 2014 before making a comeback to the programme in 2019 as head coach.

Karen has been with Christopher Dean since 2011. She shares her daughters Emma and Laura with previous partner Stephen Pickavance.
