ITV Dancing on Ice: Regan Gascoigne wants to make TV show with dad Gazza following their reunion

Dancing on Ice star Regan Gascoigne has spoken of how proud his family, including former footballer dad Paul Gascoigne, are of his journey on the ITV skating show.

Regan's dad, 54-year-old Paul - also known as Gazza - was in the Dancing on Ice audience on Sunday, February 20 with Regan's sister Bianca when he broke down in tears watching his 26-year-old son skate to the musical Singin' in the Rain.

Trained ballet dancer Regan has previously had a strained relationship with his father, but it was reported earlier this year that the pair had put the past behind them and have now bonded over the fact they both have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder also known as OCD.

Regan appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Wednesday, February 23, with his Dancing on Ice partner Karina Manta.

He spoke of how proud his family are of his performances and his interest to make a father-and-son TV show with his dad Paul.

Host Lorraine Kelly said: "Your daddy, I thought was going to explode with happiness when he was watching you, he's - and your mum is of course - very proud of you."

"They're all so proud, yeah" Regan replied smiling.

"Lots of people have talked about you doing a show together would you every consider that?" Lorraine asked.

"I think it would be so fun. I don't know what's going to happen after this, but if we got to do that then I think it would be amazing." Regan explained.

Regan also revealed he and pro skater, Karina, have got lots in store for their upcoming performance, including some "cool little lifts and tricks" and the addition of a baseball bat prop.

He also explained how dancing on the ice is completely different to what he's used to as a musical theatre performer and dancer.

"One tiny little movement can throw you," Regan said. "And it sounds so stupid because obviously it is slippery but it is so slippery to a point that you're like, you have no control like you genuinely don't.

"Even when you think you know what you're doing and you have the routine in your head - like the other day when we were just on the practice rink, I went flying and landed up on my back literally on something that I had been doing so easily. It just happens."

Lorraine asked how his body was coping with the strict training schedule and if he had suffered any injuries.

Regan laughed: "A little battered and bruised! Both of my knees have always got knee supports on, they're a bit swollen. I've popped my shoulder out."

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV from 9am and Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday, February 27 from 6.30pm.
