ITV Dancing On Ice fans confused to see Bez in the audience after announcing he had Covid

Dancing On Ice fans were baffled to see Bez in the audience of Sunday night's show after the star announced last week that he had coronavirus.

The Happy Mondays maraca player made his skating debut in the first show of the series last Sunday.

However just a day later, it was announced that he had been forced into isolation after catching Covid-19.

The 57-year-old, who is partnered with reigning skating champion Angela Egan, said: "I’ve had a positive test.

"I’m gutted because I’m going to be missing training but I’m looking forward to skating on the show again for week three and I’ll be tuning at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend."

And an ITV spokesperson said: "We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines."

Viewers watching at home were confused to see Bez in the crowd applauding the second batch of celeb ice dancers.

@AngieBop84 asked on Twitter: "I thought Bez had covid? #DOI"

@Rosie12_1994 wrote: "#DancingOnIce oh wait a minute Bez is there lol..."

@xoxVix87 asked: "Should Bez not be isolating? #DancingOnIce."

And anniebev6 wondered: "How come Bez is sat in the studio?"

The show initially splits the stars into two groups and Bez is now waiting his turn to perform again.

Later in the show Bez told host Phillip Schofield: "I was one of the lucky ones that had no symptoms."

The MEN understands that Bez has followed current government guidelines.

The NHS states that if you've tested positive for coronavirus you usually have to self-isolate for 10 full days.

However you may be able to leave self-isolation after 5 full days if certain conditions are met.

People with COVID-19 in England can end their self-isolation after 5 full days, as long as they test negative on day five and day six.

The MEN contacted ITV but they did not issue a comment.
