ITV cuts out during Saudi Arabia national anthem before Argentina World Cup game

ITV's feed showing the Argentina vs Saudi Arabia game was disrupted just moments before kick off in Doha today.

Fans tuning in on UK TV to watch Lionel Messi saw their screens break off twice in quick succession in the moments leading up to the game's start.

When the feed was restored, ITV commentator Sam Matterface apologised and said: "Welcome back here to the Lusail Stadium, north of Doha. Firstly, we’d like to apologise for the brief loss of pictures during the Saudi national anthem."

Plenty of viewers were quick to comment on what happened - with many pointing out the error logo being similar to a rainbow.

Thankfully there were no further issues in the opening period of the match - with Messi giving his country an early lead when slotting a penalty with 10 minutes gone.

The Group C clash between Argentina and Saudi Arabia is followed later by the other two sides they are up against in their section, Mexico and Poland, in a 4pm kick off UK time.

Before then at 1pm comes Denmark vs Tunisia, with France vs Australia kicking off at 7pm this evening, UK time.
