Coronation Street fans think a new romance may blossom out of tragic circumstances following the recent acid attack in Weatherfield. Fans of the ITV soap were left horrified earlier this week when Justin Rutherford returned to the cobbles on Daisy Midgeley's wedding day and unleashed a horrific attack on the bride-to-be.
After months of torment from Justin, Daisy was finally ready for happy ever after with Daniel Osbourne after a series of hiccups tried to ruin her big day. But things only got worse as the barmaid's stalker was lurking in the shadows at the Rovers Return as she and Ryan Connor, who was drafted in as chauffeur as well as DJ, locked up the pub.
In her wedding dress and ready to head to the venue, the barmaid's blood ran cold when she heard Justin's voice. After suggesting things were too perfect for her, Justin hurled acid in Daisy's direction. But in a shocking twist Ryan Connor stepped in and was left writhing and screaming as the substance burned through his face and arm.
During Wednesday night's Corrie (March 29), viewers saw Daisy and Alya Nazir still in the hospital, not wanting to be far from Ryan's side. Daniel tried to get Daisy to go home for some rest but she refused, still horrified by what unfolded on what should have been the happiest day fo her life.
But when finally allowed visitors, a struggling Ryan pushed his ex-girlfriend Alya Nazir as she tried to comfort him. Refusing any visitors, the group headed home but later, Daisy returned to the hospital to see Ryan. She tried to tell him that she had seen his new love interest Crystal and that she'd be waiting to hear from him when he was ready.
However, Ryan shared his belief that no one would be interested in him after this. And consumed with guilt, Daisy couldn't help but tell Ryan that it should be her laying in the hospital bed as he praised her for her quick reaction, getting him into the shower under cold water, preventing even further damage.
And after the emotional scenes between the pair, Corrie fans think their shared experience could lead to a relationship between the pair later down the line. @kristen.stewart.account said: "I see Daisy and Ryan growing closer. I think they will end up together."
@kirstyanne7991 commented: "I think a relationship is going to occur." @psychictracey wrote: "Daisy & Daniel sorry it’s a no go there! Right from the start it’s been a shambles, Not ment to be , As for Daisy & Ryan they will help each other through this …. Fall in love again!"
@lucberthelette added: "I sense Daisy will have a lot of guilt with this. A lot. I also hope it brings them closer. Daisy is deserving of a man who treats her kindly and with respect. No disrespect to the character of Daniel, but he has not been the kindest/most charming/supportive to Daisy during their romance. @charliejordanxo and @ryan_prescottactor 's best be put forward come award times. Truly deserving."
But the latest episode also became too much for some viewers. They saw Paul Foreman's continued struggles with the use of his hand as he was drafted in to help Dee-Dee Bailey at the solicitors office in order to get him the cash he desperately needs while out of work, not knowing that he is soon to be diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
And Amy Barlow also bravely told her mum and dad, Tracy and Steve, that she was raped by Aaron Sandford. Earlier this month the flatmates shared a kiss in the ITV soap after Aaron was on the rocks with his girlfriend Summer Spellman. Later after a celebration for his promotion as mechanic the pair ended up drinking together back at their flat.
Events then took a dark turn as Amy went to the bedroom to find more booze and Aarron, followed her. As they sat down on the bed Aaron complimented Amy and kissed her in the storyline exploring consent. Amy then admitted she felt sick and rolled away from him. But Aaron moved in closer and continued to kiss Amy, who was unaware of what was happening as he made the decision for her that they would have sex.
After sharing what happened with Tracy and Steve, Amy was accompanied by her mum to the police station to report the crime and Aaron was later arrested on suspicion of rape. And while many Corrie fans heaped praise on the show over more emotional scenes, others were struggling.
While @englishjen2 said: "Turned off not entertainment really," Heather Taylor shared on Instagram: "It was brilliant acting just so hard to watch... These story lines are so important. Well done Corrie once again." And Lisa Julia Bowers added: "The acting in Corrie has been outstanding. They have covered some important topics. They just need to get rid Steven and stop the Carla story as it’s awful how that’s playing out really hard to watch."
