Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan has announced she is pregnant. The actress, who played bunny boiler Lydia Chambers in the ITV soap earlier this year, revealed the news she was expecting her first child with husband Dan Acraman on Instagram on Thursday (December 29).
Rebecca and Dan, a pilot, tied the knot at Grangefields in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, earlier this year. The soap star dazzled with a timeless bridal look as she married her partner. "The most magical day!" she exclaimed as she posted a photo of her sensational bridal look back in October.
She was quickly flooded with messages from her former co-stars and fans who said she was "the most beautiful bride." And now the couple are set to start their family with a new arrival in 2023.
Rebecca, 31, shared a gorgeous picture of herself on Instagram, showing off her blossoming baby bump in a dazzling silver mini-dress. Posing alongside her Christmas tree in towering black heels, the former Shameless star penned: "I thought this year couldn’t get any better after marrying the man of my dreams, but it turns out it can…"
She then added: "Can’t wait to become a mummy in 2023 x" alongside a heart emoji. In another image, Rebecca pulled an animated excited face as she excitedly shared her happy news and in another, she protectively cradled her baby bump as she looked down towards her growing belly.
And while Rebecca's celebrity pals and followers were quick to react to the news, it was her brother who was first to respond. The actor, who plays Corrie's Jacob Hay, wrote: "I’m gonna be an uncle." He also shared his older sister's post to his own Instagram Story and wrote: "Can't believe I'm going to be an uncle."
Former co-star Harriet Bibby, who stars as Summer Spellman in Corrie, wrote: "Glowing girl!!! So happy and excited for you!" Amy Barlow actress Elle Mulvaney replied: "So so happy for you!!!" Fellow Shameless star Thomas Turgoose added: "Oiiiiiiiii mate that’s amazing! Strap in life’s about to change."
Rebecca, 31, shot to fame playing Debbie Gallagher in the gritty Manchester drama Shameless from 2004. She also played pupil Vicki MacDonald in the BBC One school drama series Waterloo Road, based in Rochdale, from 2009 to 2011. Her twisted character Lydia was part of an explosive drama on Corrie, embroiled in a stalker storyline with Adam Barlow and his wife Sarah Platt.
The gripping story, which kicked off at the end of last year, led to a horror accident that left solicitor Adam at risk of losing his sight and soon led to Lydia - and Rebecca's - departure from the cobbles.
