ITV Corrie's Fiz star Jennie McAlpine shares warning about on-screen daughter

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has shared a message of warning about her on-screen daughter. And it is with good reason as the ITV soap's spoilers show Hope Stape causing havoc for her mum and her new boyfriend, Phill Whittaker.

During Monday's trip to the cobbles viewers watched as Fiz Stap scurried away from a dinner with her new man and his friends after the guy they were dining with, Graham, recognised her from her trial when she was accused of the murders of Colin, Joy and Charlotte and explained that he was the solicitor for the prosecution.

As fans of the soap know, it was her ex-husband John Stape who was really the one responsible. However, Fiz fled Speed Daal as Phill's mates quizzed her on how she felt about her husband's crimes. She was then seen confiding in ex-Tyrone Dobbs about how she never told Phill about her crazy ex-husband in case he ran a mile.

But when he came to find her, knowing she'd be No.9, Phill revealed to Fiz that Graham wasn't saying anything he didn't already know. And news is set to spread as later this week, Michael Bailey is left fascinated to realise Fiz was married to serial killer John and Fiz storms out of the Underworld factory, awash with humiliation.

Things, however, are set to take a turn next week when Tyrone's suspcisions of Phill continue. But it's Hope who makes a discovery when she borrows Phill’s laptop and uncovers the truth and in true Hope style, takes revenge. Phill hears the noise of the mini-digger on the driveway and dashes round the house to see what’s going on and is horrified to see Hope at the controls.

As first-look filming pictures showed, the youngster pulls a lever, the digger’s arm swings around and smashes the windscreen on his car, viewers will be left wondering what has Hope discovered and if it will end up spelling the end for Fiz and Phill.

Jennie McAlpine, who has played Fiz for 21 years, joked to the Manchester Evening News and other press about Hope's latest troublemaking: "You don't p**s my daughter off. We all know that. You don't mess with her," before adding: "It's quite tame for her, she could have done worse."

"Joking aside, it's a really distressing thing that's happened and for whatever reason, Phill has all this information about John Stape and Hope is dining stuff out about her dad that she didn't want to find out."

Late next week viewers will see Tyrone calls at Phill’s house to collect Fiz’s things, hoping this now means they’ll be reunited. However, a row ensues and as Tyrone makes a grab for Phill, they lose their balance and fall headlong into the wet cement on the patio. As Phill scours the wet concrete, he reveals that he’s lost an engagement ring.

Tyrone then finds the ring. Phill pulls out the ring and asks Fiz to marry him, all while Tyrone waits in the wings. "Phill is just romantic and kind to her and all the things Tyrone isn't, or wasn't," Jennie told us. "There's actually a line which is really sweet... he basically lists all the things he loves about his and Fiz's relationship which is basically the same lines Tyrone said that he didn't like to her when he left her."

But Jennie also revealed what Maureen Lipman, who plays Tyrone's grandmother Evelyn Plummer, has told her about a potential wedding: "The last wedding Fiz had was in prison with only Chesney [Brown, her brother] and a prison guard as guests so I think it would be nice for her to have a nice happy ending and a nice white wedding.

"Although, Maureen has pointed out to me, aka Evelyn, that if this wedding was to go ahead, if she [Fiz] was to say yes to the proposal, she went, 'You can't wear white can you?' and I said, 'Of course I can'. But she doesn't think I can so we'll have to see."
