ITV Corrie pair melt hearts as they share photo together from the soap's belated Christmas party

Fans were pleased to see a smile return to Summer Spellman's face after her health concerns on Coronation Street. The character recently met Aaron, a fellow diabetic, at a support group after she fell into a coma.

Aaron gave Summer his number after instigating a chat as they waited for the group to start. Summer's adoptive dad Billy was pleased to see her making friends after going through such a tough time.

And Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer, and James Craven, who plays newcomer Aaron, melted hearts as they posed together at the show's belated Christmas party. "In heels and we’re still little and large," joked Harriet as she shared a photo on her Instagram.

James quipped: "Shhhh I’m just closer to the camera… it’s all a trick." Elle Mulvaney who plays Summer's best friend Amy Barlow on the cobbles replied "Cuties" with a heart emoji.

mummy8k commented: "Awww love this picture ... you both look absolutely perfect." And allforcorrie said "love this" with a love heart emoji. In Corrie poor Summer was found slumped on the bench next to boxes of alcopops and assuming her to be drunk police took her down to the station.

When her friends Amy and Aadi Alahan called at the police station and told PC Craig Tinker about Summer’s arrest and how they suspected she might be suffering from her diabetes he hurried to the cells where he found Summer in a diabetic coma. Later in the soap she opened up to Billy about her battle with bulimia while trying to manage her type one diabetes and he arranged for her to attend the support group.

The Corrie cast let their hair down away from all the high drama on the famous cobbles as they partied together at Manchester's Science and Industry Museum. Soap favourites have been sharing an insight into their big night out as they enjoyed the first Coronation Street party since 2019.

The spring bash was held next to the old Granada Studios where Coronation Street was famously filmed for over 50 years. And there was a photobooth to capture all the Friday night fun.

Elle Instagrammed a transformation video of herself and Harriet as they switched from wearing their casual attire into their party wear. She and Harriet, who wowed in a red dress with matching heels and lipstick, donned various hats and posed up a storm with an inflatable guitar in the booth.

Like many other workplaces the Trafford-based soap postponed its traditional Christmas party in December because of Covid-9. But with coronavirus restrictions now eased it was time for the cast and crew to finally celebrate with the delayed festive party.
