Coronation Street viewers were devastated when Toyah Battersby's dreams of finally becoming a mum were dashed last month. Toyah had been planning to adopt adorable an four-year-old girl called Elsie with her fiance Imran Habeeb.
However she was shattered by the news that Imran had secretly fathered a baby boy following a one-night stand with drug addict Abi Webster. And she was told that she couldn't adopt Elsie on her own during a time of upheaval.
Toyah, who found out she couldn't conceive in 2017 while trying for a family with Peter Barlow, said a tearful goodbye to the girl she had given a loving home to. But it wasn't long before she declared that she had forgiven Imran and their wedding was back on.

She has sided with him in his fight for custody of baby Alfie so they could have the family they longed for. And in Monday night's Corrie (May 2) fans were aghast as Toyah went through with her marriage vows after Abi tried to hijack their big day.
Abi jumped into Toyah’s wedding car just as the bride was getting in and, driving off, she tried to persuade Toyah to cancel the wedding. But Toyah was determined to go through with it and after arriving at the venue she told Abi: "I won't be taken for a fool that's for sure."
Some fans have wondered if Toyah will end up pulling the rug from under Imran's feet to help Abi or to gain custody of Alfie herself. @DionPetrie tweeted: "I still hope Toyah is playing Imran." And @RyanGTweetsTV said: "Toyah only cares about being a mom - her feelings for Imran are dead."
But other viewers are considering the romantic theory that the return of her first love Spider Nugent to the cobbles could deliver a romantic twist that he turns out to be little Elsie's dad. @Thedragon18137 tweeted: "Since they announced Spider is coming back to #Corrie I’m convinced he’s Elsie’s dad and that’s how Toyah gets her back." @Momrocks50 replied: "That would be cool." And @MsNottledim said with a pondering emoji: "Ooh."
Over on Facebook Sheila Pidgeon Murphy said: "Look out Imran this could be where you get your marching orders." And Marilyn Costello asked: "Is he gonna get between Imran and Toyah? It'll defo be interesting."
It has been 25 years since the character Spider, played by Martin Hancock, made his debut in the ITV soap and fans were delighted to hear last week that he's coming back to Weatherfield.
Martin will resume the role he played as Emily Bishop's eco-warrior nephew between 1997 and 2003, appearing on our screens in July. He left Coronation Street in 2003, when he headed to London to start afresh with Toyah. They later separated with Spider moving to Peru.
Coronation Street, producer Iain Macleod has said of bringing Spider back to the famous street: "Martin is a fabulous actor and Spider is a character with real heritage, and affection from fans.
"His return heralds an enthralling new story for Toyah, who will be embroiled in a mess of guilt and secrecy when Spider arrives. Will he be her saviour or the thing that ruins her life forever?"
