At just 18-years-old Summer Spellman has been through more than most. The Coronation Street teen, played by Harriet Bibby, has been at the centre of the drama with her diabetes diagnosis and battle with bulimia.
Then her life was rocked again when she found out she was pregnant with boyfriend Aaron Sandford's baby. As she considered having an abortion, Billy Mayhew's parishioners Mike and Esther Hargrave said they wanted to adopt her baby and handed over £10,000 which they decided to use pay for Aaron's dad's rehab stint.
When Aaron and Summer found out that alcoholic Eric had been drinking again in Monday night's episode of the ITV soap, they rushed to his aid. But, clearly in pain, Summer revealed that she was bleeding and was devastated to discover she’s suffered a miscarriage.

The shaken couple returned home from hospital to find Eric drunk with blood trickling down his face, and he became aggressive and yelled at his son. After Aaron asked the driver to take them to A&E, Summer read a text from Esther telling her how much they’re looking forward to her moving in with them during her pregnancy.
Clear that Eric will need further treatment, Summer suggested that they could keep her miscarriage a secret and use the next batch of Mike and Esther's money to fund more rehab for him. Aaron warned that it was fraud but Summer protested that they were only 'borrowing' the money.
Fans made their observations about the storyline as they took to social media. Some wondered if events could take a darker turn for Summer if the 'creepy' couple find out about her lies.

And they said: "Oh god when Summer tells Esther and Mike what’s happened they’ll probably hold her hostage or something."
Another fan @Thedragon18137 wondered if Esther might turn out to be Summer's biological mum, after we've only been introduced to her adoptive dad Drew Spellman and her guardian Billy. "Also could Esther be Summer’s bio mum? Been thinking we don’t know who her birth mum is," they pondered.
