Undercover cop Spider Nugent came a cropper in Coronation Street as his true identity was dangerously exposed. Eco-warrior Spider is secretly operating as Detective Constable Nugent, who is trying to bring down racist Griff Reynolds and his extremist group.
In last night's episode of the ITV soap (Tuesday January 3) Spider attempted to close in on Griff, but unfortunately he was one step behind him. Danger was lurking in the Weatherfield ginnels after Spider thought he was being called by vulnerable teen Max Turner who has been lured in by the extremist.
When he got there, he found Griff, who told Spider that he's worked out that his so-called friend works for the police. Much-loved character Spider was hit with a crowbar for his deception.

Griff was about to kill Spider until Peter Barlow raced to the rescue and he was rushed to hospital, where Peter and girlfriend Toyah were told he'd suffered a bleed on the brain and needed surgery. However, viewers couldn't help laughing at the unintentionally comedic scene as they pointed out what they thought was a problem with Spider's attack.
