ITV Corrie fans left feeling 'sick' and plead 'enough' over two characters from the same family as star reveals behind-the-scenes detail

Coronation Street fans were left feeling 'sick' twice during the latest trip to the cobbles - and by two members of the same family. The ITV soap was back on-screen on Monday night (February 27) and viewers saw Paul Foreman eager to get back to work after his recent accident.

In previous scenes, the builder was knocked down by Carla Connor in the Underworld van after she was secretly drugged with LSD by serial killer Stephen Reid. Paul was knocked unconscious and taken to the hospital while Carla was left mortified by the incident with fears her mental health was in decline again after previous suffering from psychosis, unaware it's all part of Stephen's evil plan to get his own back on Carla and get his hands on the factory.

But Paul was soon out of the hospital with his arm in a sling, and after reconciling with former flame Billy Mayhew, he appeared to be making a swift recovery as he got his arm support taken away. However, it was quickly noted that something still wasn't right.

In the Rovers in scenes last week, Paul went to pick up a set of darts but he struggled to collect them. Eventually, he got hold of them but seconds later he ended up throwing a dart in completely the wrong direction and it landed right into Evelyn Plummer's new hat - and she wasn't thrilled.

He has since hidden his struggle and on Monday night was seen arriving at the builder's yard pleading with boss Ed Bailey to let him work, despite even struggling to tie his shoelace. Ed was happy to have Paul back but Paul was under strict instructions to take it easy.

But it wasn't long before viewers saw Paul using a saw and, had Ed not walked in, he would have probably chopped his thumb off much to both his and Paul's horror. And viewers weren't too pleased by the scenes either.

@SARamsay1 tweeted: "Ffs Paul, it's so obvious it's not safe for you to be working! He would so easily have lost a hand or some fingers just now. He should speak to a GP #Corrie." @StaceyDuffy said: "Just spent most of that scene hiding behind a cushion #Corrie." While another simply said: "I feel sick."

But Paul's sister, Gemma Winter, was also getting viewers talking as she was roped into trying wedding cakes with Daisy Midgeley. The Rovers barmaid and mum of quads ended up being the guinea pig when bride-to-be Daisy feared the cake samples sent to her house could have been tampered with as they were delivered by her stalker, Justin.

Daisy and groom Daniel Osbourne were also joined by Jenny Connor and Ken Barlow for the cake tasting but ended up watching Gemma get stuck in as she didn't want to see the samples go to waste and didn't mind testing them before the others could be safe in mind that the treats were ok to eat.

But Gemma did end up feeling sick, appearing to have eaten too much. Meanwhile, fans of the long-running soap were disgusted by Gemma's eating habit - and not for the first time. @CavoloChe tweeted: "Seriously, Gemma talking with her mouth full makes me sick...and it's really not good to portray. Also, she could choke if she's not careful, for the sake of art. #Corrie."

@MatthewMitt6 wrote: "My God enough with the Gemma eating scenes #corrie." @totesmuv70 posted: "Can the writers PLEASE listen…STOP showing Gemma eating and talking with her mouth full and wide open, IT IS DISGUSTING AND I DON’T WANT SEE IT ANYMORE! #Corrie." @ally7616 complained: "No more eating scenes for Gemma please, it’s not funny, it is disgusting and annoying! #corrie."

But Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Rovers landlady Jenny, was quick to share the funny side of the scenes and let fans in on some behind-the-scenes details. "Let me tell you, that scene was impossible to get through without laughing," she tweeted. "In fact, some of us couldn’t……Dolly did an excellent job! x #Corrie."

A viewer then asked: "Was the cake on Daisy's face scripted or not? Was very funny!" referring to a moment which saw Daisy, played by Charlotte Jordan, had to wipe a speck of cake from her face due to Gemma talking with her mouth full and spluttering the crumbs over her. Sally replied: "A happy accident that had to be recreated for every take."
