Coronation Street fans expressed concern that Max Turner could be set for a racism storyline after he was told he couldn't have a place back at Weatherfield High School. The troubled teen, who was expelled from school and sent to a pupil referral unit after a smear campaign against teacher Daniel Osbourne, was hoping to return to his local school.
As part of a school project on displacement, Max conducted an interview with his new friend, a refugee from Iraq. They enjoyed a friendly chat at Roy's Rolls cafe supervised by Weatherfield councillor Maria Connor.
Meanwhile, Max's dad David Platt and David's wife Shona were disappointed when deputy headteacher Orla Crawshaw informed them that Max couldn't return to Weatherfield High, as there are no places available. Volatile Max was devastated when he found out that Daryan is starting at Weatherfield High but he couldn't.

"It's oversubscribed and we all know who's taking my place," he raged as Daryan looked forlorn. After angrily storming out of the cafe David and Shona gave him a talking to at home but Max was unrepentant. "He's not my mate," he fumed. And he added: "He's only been here five minutes and he gets a place."
"Don't be going down that road," David immediately pulled him up. And Shona also blasted him for his behaviour, saying: "I was starting to feel sorry for you this morning but any more of that..."
But Max wasn't finished, accusing Maria of being a "virtue signaller." "She doesn't give a toss for anyone else unless it's going to make her look good," he said nastily.
In February Max suffered a horror fall after Daniel found him trashing his flat. The pair were then left keeping each other's secrets after the teenage tearaway spiked a drink that was meant for Daniel but ended up being drunk by his niece Amy Barlow.
After blackmailing Daniel the truth came tumbling out and, as well as being expelled, he faced the prospect of going to prison. He also lurched into another drama when he maliciously shared teaching assistant Nicky Wheatley's images with the rest of the school, leaving her with no job and nowhere to live.
@RyanGSoapKing11 tweeted about the latest ITV soap storyline: "This setback could send Max down a dark path again." @corriepodcast said: "That’ll be Max a racist now then."
@KINGVILLANELLE wrote: "Max being a xenophobe ugh... just when i was starting to like him too."o and @homebrew19721 commented: "Bet Max will start being racist because the refugee lad as got his place at weatherfield high."
@itzzzo_asked: "Why is Max accusing the refugee for taking his space? Maybe consider the fact you was kicked out months ago for spiking Daniel, sending Nicky’s pictures around and whatever else." @AndyNowlin1976 asked: "Max is going to go all racist isn’t he? And @MeeshyJay said: "Max has clearly forgotten why he got kicked out of Weatherfield High in the first place."
