Coronation Street fans have for a while been asking if an affair could be on the cards for two characters and tonight they feared it might already have started. Corrie viewers have seen Tim Metcalfe and Aggie Bailey grow closer for months as he's confided in her over his heart problems, marital difficulties and troubles in the bedroom with his wife Sally.
In Wednesday's episode (September 7) Tim was meant to play in the Rovers Return vs Flying Horse charity match. But as Dev Alahan gave a pre-match pep talk he thought he was making a dig at his impotence.
Accusing his friend Peter Barlow of betraying his confidence, he stormed out leaving Weatherfield County footballer James Bailey with no choice but to step in. As they set off Aggie spotted a glum Tim and invited him in for a brew.

As Tim opened up to nurse Aggie over a cuppa, the match kicked off. While the players gave it their all, Tim unburdened himself and the pair were last seen sniggering over Tim's double entendre about 'rising' as Aggie whipped up a cake.
Then there was horror at the match as suddenly James collapsed. His dad Ed rushed across the pitch frantically calling an ambulance as older brother Michael performed CPR.
Michael raced back to the street to get Aggie and as she arrived at the hospital she looked shifty as she was faced with questions about where she had been and why she didn't answer her phone. Aggie looked guilty as she was told her youngest son had been 'dead for five minutes.'

Surely nothing happened between her and Tim other than them talking and in the kitchen as Aggie was doing the cake?" And @griannedoherty3 asked: "Why exactly were Tim and Aggie acting so totally shifty? Surely their NOT actually having a full on affair?"
@cb_038 commented cynically: "Aggie not answering her phone... that old chestnut." And @aidoo_andrea asked: "Is Tim having an affair with Aggie?"
But @Jamal06122771 said: "Simple answer Aggie... I was in the kitchen baking a cake. My phone was in the living room on vibrate. Simple. Why the look of guilt? Nothing happened between you and Tim."
@FLady1980 said: "I can see Tim having a affair with Aggie." And they said with vomiting emojis: "I know its a bit lol." And @LilithWinches66 fumed: "Stop trying to make Aggie & Tim happen & splitting up couples who can actually last."
Earlier this month, while opening up to Aggie in the ITV soap, Tim realised his impotence could be linked to his fear of dying. As Sally wondered what had made him finally realise he failed to mention his close friend.
