ITV Corrie fans distracted by 'annoying' detail in Yasmeen scenes but pick out surprising new romance

Coronation Street fans made the same observation as they sat down to watch Wednesday's epsisode of the soap. Chef Stu Carpenter has been protesting his innocence since his love interest Yasmeen Nazir found out that he was jailed for 27 years for the murder of a young woman he had an affair with.

Stu has explained to Yasmeen and her grandchildren Alya and Zeedan that he was wrongly imprisoned. But a terrified Yasmeen, who suffered months of abuse at the hands of her late husband Geoff Metcalfe as part of harrowing coercive control storyline, is yet to believe Stu's pleas.

He was recently arrested by PC Craig Tinker for being in breach of the peace when he showed up at her home. And when Craig broke the news that Stu could be released within a matter of days, Yasmeen suffered a panic attack as she tried to host a fundraising event at her restaurant Speed Daal.

She tried to deliver a speech about domestic abuse to the fundraiser guests, but became visibly panicky. And when her neighbour Roy Cropper called to find Yasmeen in a terrible state and struggling to breathe he came to the rescue and donned an apron to help out in the kitchen.

Meanwhile Zeedan went to see Stu in the prison visiting room and he told Zeedan about his case files and how he intends to prove his innocence. Zeedan called at the solicitors’ office and asked Adam Barlow to request Stu’s case files, but when Yasmeen found out she was reeling.

Yasmeen killed the call from Stu (ITV)

As a distraught Yasmeen confronted Zeedan, Stu called Zeedan and begged him to pass the phone to Yasmeen. But she wailed at her grandson to put the phone down and then killed the call.

Corrie fans expressed their annoyance that Yasmeen is refusing to listen. @j_raff2021 pleaded on Twitter: "Yasmeen, shut up because Zeedan is trying to talk Stu on the phone." And @pam_debeauvoir complained: "Yasmeen's voice is going right through me."

@BluerayBird said: "So irritating." And @StaceyDuffy tweeted: "Yasmeen getting on my last nerve." @mj_margaret said: "Yasmeen is really getting on my nerves, making all that fuss over Stu who has gone to prison for what, I didn't even see him do anything, when he gets out he should get as far away from her as possible." While @KatMarBax complained: "They’ve ruined Yasmeen’s character."

Roy to the rescue (ITV)

However, as hearts went out to the character over her previous ordeal @RyanGSoapKing11 said with a broken-hearted emoji: "Yasmeen having a panic attack." While others thought they'd picked out a potential romance as she appeared to gaze admiringly at her hero Roy who got the fundraiser back on track.

@Willswhinge tweeted: "Yasmeen has her eye on Roy." @corriepodcast said: "Yasmeen looked for a minute like she might be taken by the sight of Roy in a pink pinny." @Bebop76845845 pleaded: "Please don't team up Roy and Yas ffs." But @a___w89 said: "Petition for Yasmeen and Roy to get together @itvcorrie she needs a good man at last! #corrie"
