ITV Coronation Street viewers predict character is 'going down for murder' in Rufus death twist

Coronation Street fans have predicted that an innocent character will be 'going down for murder' after Rufus Donahue's death is confirmed. During Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles, viewers of the ITV soap saw the businessman face an unknown visitor at his home.

Rufus was seen in his plush abode, which boasts its own swimming pool, as the music blasted out while he waited to see Michael Bailey who he had offered a fancy new job in London.

It came after things were ramped up a notch between Rufus and Stephen Ried who was forced to agree to Rufus’ demand for 50% of the profits from the Nippersnapper deal after he learnt of the serial killer's plans to take over Underworld by drugging Carla Connor with LSD to make her think he psychosis had returned.

It comes after Michael, who co-created the brand with Stephen's niece Sarah Barlow, caused Stephen further problems after telling him he can stick his job as Rufus has offered him a better one down south. But later, when Michael arrived at his house to see him, his knocking received no reply and hearing loud music from inside he calls him and leaves him a voicemail.

The no-show comes after Rufus was earlier seen answering the doors and asking: "What are you doing here?"And later in the week, as Michael tries to smooth things over with Stephen, his uncle Ronnie advise him to give Rufus another try.

Viewers will see them return to Rufus' house only to find it swarming with police before learning that he has been found dead in the swimming pool. And while Corrie fans didn't see how he died or who, if anyone, killed him, they are already suspecting Stephen is responsible.

Paul could be framed for murder after stealing Rufus' car before his death (ITV)

But, not everyone thinks he'll be caught out for the crime, if one has been committed, and think that Paul Foreman will face a murder charge after he stole Rufus' car. The builder has embroiled himself in crime as out of work and facing a diagnosis of motor neurone disease, he is desperate to get money to pay for his sister Gemma Winter's wedding to Chesney Brown.

@antenatalscan tweeted: "Paul going down for #rufus murder #corrie." @JojoMac09157643 said: "I think Paul will be jailed for murder only to find out he didn't have to do any of this as he hasn't got motor neuron disease."

@mheanes predicted: "Paul to be charged with murder of Rufus, goes to trial Didi proves the fatal blow was struck my right handed assailant Paul unable to use right hand jury find him not guilty, #corrie." @jjfizz wrote: "Looks like Paul is going to get done for murder #CoronationStreet #corrie." @soaps_extra added: "Right so Paul is gonna be framed for the murder because he’s been caught on cctv #Corrie."

Fans think Michael could also end up in the frame (ITV)

But if not Paul, fans think Michael could end up in the frame. @DebbieTutin tweeted: "I’m thinking Michael will get the blame for killing Rufus. #Corrie." @PatHeggie echoed: "I'm guessing Michael will be framed for Rufus's murder but Steven has left his tie pin behind #corrie."

@DavidMackayy said: "Michael’s gonna be blamed for Rufus’s murder - he’s just left a voicemail #corrie." @sofaneilas wrote: "Poor Michael I still reckon Stephen is gonna frame him for Roofus murder and have him as a dogsbody and steal them fab designs lmao #corrie." @julianhilaire added: "Adam will be defending Michael in court next #corrie."
