Coronation Street viewers were taken aback by a surprising turn in tonight's show.
Monday's episode continued to explore Damon Hay's reign of terror on the Cobbles. The character, played by Ciaran Griffiths, continues to have a hold over Nick Tilsley in Weatherfield.
Damon has forced Nick into allowing him to keep a stash of drugs in the Viaduct Bistro. The bistro's crooked affiliations meant it was targeted in the latest episode by masked robbers.

Armed thugs demanded they were shown the stash before Damon arrived to save the day. The criminal attacked the thieves as Nick phoned the police.
Viewers following the show on Twitter were confused by the dark turn and said it was more like a scene from BBC hit drama, Happy Valley, which aired its final episode last night.
Emily said: "OMG @itvcorrie I didn't see this coming! My nerves are Still shot from #HappyValley last night! #Corrie #MondayDrama"
Toni posted: "Jeez, #Corrie seems to have turned into #HappyValley this evening"
Brett commented: "Terrorist gangs? Now armed drugs raids? What’s happening to #corrie ?!"
Owen tweeted: "In the last few weeks, there's Spider with a head injury because of Griff, a bombing, Damon beating up Jacob before getting him to leave, Summer held hostage, Alya being stabbed and now armed drugs gunmen at the bistro - what's with all the constant violence and misery?"
