Coronation Street's Antony Cotton was quick to make an observation about his co-star Sue Cleaver as she returned to work after her I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here stint. The ITV soap's Sean Tully actor revealed to the Manchester Evening News last week that Sue would be making a comeback after jetting back from Australia.
The actress, who is famed for playing Eileen Grimshaw in the ITV soap, was among the 12 stars to take part in the 2022 series of the reality show which came to an end at the end of last month. Sue, 59, was dubbed the camp's mother alongside father-figure Mike Tindall, who fast became her jungle 'husband'.
But the soap star, who has played Street Cars taxi cab controller Eileen since 2000, didn't hide her glee as she became the third contestant to be eliminated days before Jill Scott was crowned Queen of the Jungle. She was able to enjoy some time sunning it up Down Under before returning home.
And she has now made a return to the cobbles, re-joining her on-screen family including Antony, Gareth Pierce, who plays her son Todd Grimshaw, and Tony Maudsley, who stars in the soap as her partner George Shuttleworth.
Posting a video to her Instagram Story, Sue can be seen sat on the sofa in Number 11 Coronation Street with Antony making an appearance in the background. "Hi, she's back," Antony, 47, says with a grin as Sue smiles. Antony's on-screen partner Robert Shaw Cameron, who plays newcomer Laurence, also made an appearance.
"She's back and she's a lot thinner," Antony then says. "She's half the woman. Where is the other half?" he then asked as Sue echoed: "Half the woman!" Antony added: "She is half the woman."
Sue also shared a video to her main Instagram grid saying she was 'back home'. Speaking in the clip, again from No.11 on the soap's Salford-based set, Sue says: "Guess where I am?" before Tony begins to sing Peters and Lee track, Welcome Home. But as Gareth pop his head in and says: "Hi Mum!" Tony scolds him, telling him to 'get lost' as he cuddled up to Sue.
"I'm back with my boys," Sue added. "Where I should be," as Tony continued to sing and Gareth instructed: "Do the washing up, Mum!" Captioning the video on Instagram, Sue wrote: "First day back… Home sweet home." And fans were pleased to see her back where she belongs.
