ITV Coronation Street star Jude Riordan shares pride over new role alongside director dad away from soap

Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has been a busy bre as not only has he recently returned to filming on the cobbles, but he's also just wrapped on another project. Fans best known the youngster for playing Sam Blakeman in the ITV soap.

The actor, who also stars in Brassic alongside former Corrie star Michelle Keegan, revealed on Sunday that he had just finished filming his first short film - and it was somewhat of a family affair.

Jude, 11, was able to work with his dad for the first time. Not long ago fans were surprised to discover that the soap star's dad was pretty famous for his work behind-the-scenes on many much-loved show. Paul Riordan has forged a successful career in show business as a television director.

He broke through in a behind-the-scenes role in Hollyoaks before he went on to earn directing credits for popular soaps such as Emmerdale and Casualty. And the desire for working on and off screen continues as Jude's brother, Zach, recently made his own Weatherfield debut as he appeared opposite his brother in scenes aired on the ITV soap.

But back to Jude and his dad's latest project, the young actor looked proud as punch as he posed for a snap alongside Paul and former Casualty actor Michael Stevenson. "And that's a WRAP on my first short film Something Missing," the Corrie star shared with his thousands of Instagram followers.

"I can't wait to see this finished film! 4 long days to get it all in. Had the best time with the best team! First project w my Dad @paulrio27 and first project w @michaeltstevenson ... Would I do another YES." He went on to explain: "This is a story very close to our hearts. A young carer Sean looking after his Mum Suzanne with early onset Dementia a story that is life for many young carers and needs to be told."

Jude, who hails from St Helens, Merseyside, ended his post: "Proud to be ambassador for St Helens Young Carers @sth.yc and hopefully we will raise awareness of how important their roles are and how important it is to get the care and support. I can't wait for you all to see it."

Jude's former on-screen mum Rachel Leskovac, who played Natasha Blakeman, was among the first to respond, writing under the post: "Can’t wait to see it." And this was echoed by fans.

Well done you little superstar." @monaghan4may wrote: "Good lad looking forward to seeing it." @lindafagan16 shared: "What a fantastic young actor you are ill be watching it." @jb.freddie62 added: "Congratulations Jude. You are an amazing actor."

It comes a month after Jude delighted fans by giving an update on another of his roles away from the Corrie cobbles. He stars as Tyler Croft in Sky comedy Brassic, the son of Michelle's character Erin, and in May, he shared the brand new trailer to his Instagram page, which is run by his parents.

Jude wrote: "Reposted from @brassicfans_ BRASSIC 4 IS ON THE WAY this Autumn. Sneek peak.So proud to be part of this, fun 4 years with the gang @skytv @nowtv." And fans were soon sharing their excitement.
