ITV Coronation Street's unlikely new friendship that's 'giving fans life'

Coronation Street fans were introduced to an unlikely new "double act" during Monday's episode - and it seems like they loved it.

This week's first instalment of the long-running ITV soap saw a frazzled Evelyn trying to work out what to do after ordering too many alcopops to Dev's shop. Scenes also showed Jacob enquiring about jobs as his rent was due, as well as gas and electricity bills.

He asked his girlfriend Amy if she could get an advance on her wages. She said: "I can't go to my mum, because then she'll be like 'I knew you couldn't manage on your own'."

Jacob told her not to worry and that he would "sort something". When he then saw Evelyn's predicament, he had an idea.

He bought the alcopops off her for £60, after some negotiations. He also agreed to give Evelyn 10% of any profits he made selling them.

Jacob then took the drinks to Victoria Gardens and began his sales pitch. It didn't take long for him to sell most of the alcopops, and Evelyn was impressed.

She said: "You've sold all those? Already?". He replied: "What can I say? I've got the magic touch". Suddenly, a police car pulled up.

Evelyn said: "Don't just stand there, leg it!". She then left in the opposite direction, whistling as she went. Fans were loving their chemistry.

Taking to Twitter, Bufferb2012 said: "I actually like Jacob, hopefully Corrie will advertise him as a loveable rogue. He and Evelyn would be a great double act." Michelle W said: "Nah Jacob and Evelyn are giving me life".

Sophie Williams said: "Evelyn and Jacob in dodgy business together is everything I didn't know I needed." Madeleine Masterson said: "Don't just stand there leg it! Evelyn with her years of experience".

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
