ITV Coronation Street Sean Wilson's new life 16 years after soap exit

It's been over 16 years since Sean Wilson left Coronation Street.

The actor played Martin Platt, the second-husband of Gail, father of David and adoptive father of Nick and Sarah Louise.

Sean first join the soap in 1985 as a 16-year-old working at Jim's Cafe, managed by Gail who was then married to Brian Tilsley.

The two became lovers despite their 10-year age difference and when Brian died the couple tied the knot.

Gail and Martin were married for eight years but split in 1999 after he had an affair with nurse Rebecca Hopkins.

The character then fell in love with 16-year-old Katy Harris, but their relationship was fraught with problems and Katy died by suicide.

In November 2005, Martin moved to Liverpool to be with Robyn where their daughter Charlotte Platt was born in 2006.

But apart from a brief stint on Corrie in 2018, where he appeared for three episodes, Sean chose a very different career path after he left Weatherfield.

Discovering his passion for cheesemaking, Sean set up the Saddleworth Cheese Company in 2009.

And his business has gone from strength to strength with his products now stocked in Asda.

He also makes an award-winning blue called Smelly Ha’peth.

Sean announced in 2018 that he was returning to Reaseheath College to become a lecturer in cheese.

And in recent months, he's been pictured selling his cheese at Manchester Christmas Markets.
