ITV Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine looks beautiful in wedding dress after own secret nuptials

Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine looked a picture-perfect bride as she was snapped filming for her upcoming on-screen nuptials. The actress's character Fiz Stape is set to wed new man Phill Whittaker in upcoming scenes.

Last month the Underworld machinist said 'yes' to her beau after he popped the question. But there was some confusion among fans as to why Fiz accepted Phill's hand in marriage after his big secret was finally exposed.

Since his arrival in Weatherfield viewers of the ITV soap were certain Phill was hiding something. And in typical soap fashion, he was! The character, played by Jamie Kenna, was preparing to write a book on Fiz' ex husband, murderer John Stape.

The big reveal came after Fiz had a blast from the past after a friend of Phill’s turned out to be one of prosecuting solicitors at her trial at the time she was accused of committing John's crimes. When it was time for her to come clean about her past, Phill admitted she wasn't telling him anything he didn't already know.

However, it soon transpired that Phill knew a hell of a lot more as Fiz's daughter Hope discovered he had been researching her dad's past and crimes in documents found on his laptop. He was planning on writing a true crime book and hoped he would help Fiz get her side of the story across.

She was, as expected, horrified and it appeared that Tyrone Dobbs, played by Alan Halsall, could have been in with a chance of rekindling things with her former partner. However, Phill decided to apologise to Fiz one last time where he also decided to get down on one knee and propose, leaving her stunned.

But she accepted his proposal and now first-look pictures show the pair, dressed to impress, do make it the venue but whether they go through with it remains to be seen because as we know, anything can happen in soapland.

What we do know, however, is that Jennie looked stunning in Fiz's outfit for the special occasion. She was snapped wearing a white, off-the-shoulder dress that just reached her ankles. The outfit had been teamed with a matching pair of white heels while a veil had been attached to the back of her iconic locks with curled strands framing her face.

She was also seen holding a bouquet of flowers during filming, which took place Colshaw Hall, an exclusive and luxurious wedding venue in Cheshire, featured white and varying shades of pink roses.

Jamie was also seen looking dapper as his character donned a three-piece grey suit for the occasion. At one point the actor, who joined the cobbles last year, was seen laughing and smiling as he took pictures on his own phone.

Several other cast members of the ITV soap were spotted filming on-location for the ceremony, which will air in the coming weeks. Looking rather glum in the scenes was Tyrone while Alan, who has played the mechanic for more than 20 years, spotting donning a pair of dark shades and drinking a bottle of water in between takes.

Evelyn Plummer, played by Maureen Lipman, was in attendance as well as Maria Connor actress Samia Longchambon, who appeared to be acting as Fiz's right-hand woman and looked equally as beautiful in a purple dress with thigh-high split and ruffled neckline.

Lisa George and Antony Cotton were in attendance (MCPIX)

Dolly-Rose Campbell, who portrays Gemma Winter in Corrie, and Sean Tully actor Antony Cotton, and Beth Sutherland actress Lisa George were also seen as were Fiz and Tyri.

The pair were seen getting excited following Phill's proposal scenes as they discovered they'd be bridesmaids. And the pair of young actresses appeared to be having a great time filming as they were snapped larking around while wearing matching pink and silver-sequinned dresses for the occasion.

But all this is a lot different to Jennie's own big day. She has been happily married to restaurateur Chris Farr for five years after being introduced by her co-star, serial matchmaker, Antony Cotton. After more than a decade together, the pair married in secret in January 2017.

The couple said 'I do' at Trafford Town Hall, with only their son Albert and two witnesses from Trafford Town Hall present at the ceremony. She said previously: "I love a good wedding and I hope that I’m invited. For myself I just kind of wanted it low key. I didn’t want to be the centre of attention."
