ITV Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd's 'secret' show slip leaves co-stars and fans 'fuming'

Corrie fans and co-starts are fuming following a slip made by one of the stars of the show. Jack P Shephard, best known for playing David Platt in the long running soap, has let slip a behind the scenes secret.

One of the first people to speak out about the blunder was the character's on-screen son. Paddy Bever, who plays Max, said he was 'fuming' after spotting the slip showing a secret behind one of Coronation Street 's set illusions.

Jack, 34, joined the cast in 2000 at just 12-years-old. Manchester Evening News says the actor has spent all that time in the famous street's number 8 with mum Gail and sister Sarah. He now has his own family including son Max, daughter Lily and wife Shona.

Taking to Instagram, Jack shared a photo from his on-screen home. It showed him on the Salford-based set sitting at top of the stairs at number eight Coronation Street. However, in the picture it was clear that the stairs lead to nowhere and all that could be seen above was professional lighting and a walk way which appeared to go above the rest of the Platt residence set.

Jack captioned the picture: "Misspent youth was had on thus staircase." Many fans of the show will remember the time David pushed his mum Gail, played by Corrie legend Helen Worth, down the stairs.

In response to the post, Paddy Bever, wrote: "Fuming. Just found out there’s no upstairs." While Jamie Kenna, who recently exited the soap as Fiz Stape's ditched husband Phill Whittaker, added: "WTF the house not real?!?!" Even EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt, who is famed for playing the BBC soap's Iain Beale replied: "Yep. #ifyouknowyouknow."

And Corrie fans also shared their own comments, with some nostalgic over the long-running soap's past and others surprised to see where the staircase really leads. One social media user wrote: "I remember when you threw your Mum down those stairs."

The comments continued: : "Ah, the infamous “push Gail down those stairs” scene!" With another fan adding surprise: "So there’s no upstairs??" Corrie fans continued to react: "Why did I think they were actual, real houses.... ruined it now!"

And the comments kept coming: "This is up there with the disappointment I felt when I found out the washing machines in the laundrette in EastEnders aren’t real, and someone actually stands behind the wall manually turning them round." Another said: "Now you've spoilt the illusion!" Someone else added: "Haha trade secrets . Naughty."
