Coronation Street fans were left delighted when Tony Maudsley shared some exciting news on his soap future with them. The actor joined the ITV soap back in 2020 as George Shuttleworth.
However, it is likely that viewers still remember him for his portrayal of hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke in the hit ITV sitcom Benidorm, a role he played from 2011 to 2018.
But back to Corrie and fans will know him for playing loveable undertaker George who is prone to getting things very wrong when it comes to his romance with Eileen Grimshaw. He was also seen giving her son, Todd Grimshaw, the benefit of the doubt after he returned to the cobbles and caused problems for Billy Mayhew by offering him a job with him and a place to stay.

@hughesjg commented: "Best #Corrie "signing" since the return of the brilliant @RealGeorgiaT. Wonderful news, Tony. #George is a terrific character, in the mould of classic years, and you've made a brilliant impression. Roy Hudd would be delighted, I'm sure!"
"You’re the best thing to happen to Corrie for a long time, you’re the only reason I watch it nowadays. Congratulations Tony, you deserve it," @kck1965 shared.
